ask-3-me
d) Summary: This video was about a particular teachers strategy for her student’s questions.
Students often give up very easily at the first sign of difficulty, so this strategy serves to gain
some benefit out of their need for assistance. First they have to ask another student who is
working on the assignment. They may ask multiple students if their question isn’t answered.
Next, they should turn to students who have completed the assignment. If they have asked at
least 3 others, then they may ask their question to the teacher. I like this system because it
encourages students to work together and gives the teacher more time to deal with the tougher
questions.
e) 1. Why is it beneficial for students to ask other students for help on assignments?
2. How is the teacher addressing questions that cannot be answered by the class? What does
3. Is this the most effective way to promote teamwork and cooperation in the classroom?

v=MyPUY38blZQ&t=24s
d) Summary: This video was about a system of checking in and out with students each day.
Students meet with an adult “buddy” each day and check in. This guages the students social and
emotional well being which I think is important in modern classrooms. These meetings help
students set goals for their education. At the end of each day, students check out with the same
buddy and go over the summary of their class experience. This fosters positive relationship with
students, and allows for closely monitored feedback for kids so they can get the specific help
they need. I like this idea a lot because its important to consider all the external factors that affect
e) 1. What type of growth is being seen from students outside academics as a result of these
buddy meetings?
2. How can this system be implemented in larger schools with less staff members?
3. What kind of strategies should “buddies” use to help students set and accomplish goals, and
how can they best asses each student to identify where they need help?

d) Summary: This video shared one teacher’s approach to teaching and reinforcing kindness and
kind behavior in her classroom. First she began by demonstrating what acts of kindness look like
which I thought was smart. I was worried the kids would just do anything and say it was kind but
as the video continues we can see how she avoids this. Each time a student does something kind,
they take a colored pom pom and place it in a jar. The student then shares their act of kindness
with the class, and the class positively reinforces the behavior. This is great because the whole
class is constantly encouraged to be kind and shown examples of all sorts of kind behavior they
can emulate.
2. How do we know students are implementing kind behaviors even when they arent being
rewarded?
3. How can this be implemented with older kids who won’t be as impressed with pom poms?

d) Summary: This video talks about how teacher self care impacts the classroom. The entire class
can catch on to a teacher’s overall vibe and its important to understand that teachers are people
who can have bad days too. This school uses a technique where they text a free colleague to
cover their class for a minute. This gives the teacher some personal time during a short break
where they can recharge. I like this idea because it supports the mental health of teachers which
e) 1. What are some other ways that we can support self care amongst teachers?
2. Is there strategies we can implement to limit stress in the classroom for teachers AND
students?
3. How do teachers know when they should take a break or step back for some self care? What

time_continue=30&v=pCv0G4JEuJY&feature=emb_title&ab_channel=Edutopia
d) Summary: This video talks about how the tone of our voice can be used to self regulate. This
begins with the teacher. The teacher has to acknowledge how their voice impacts the students,
and the emotions being conveyed with their tone. For example, an aggressive loud tone can make
the students feel motivated by fear which is not what we want to do as educators. Maintaining a
calm tone and volume helps the teacher to emotionally regualte and remain relaxed during the
lesson. I didnt realize how much of an impact just a voice can have. The students are also taught
that this calm quiet demeanor can help them when they are feeling stressed or upset. This is
really smart because it helps not only the educator but the whole class and I feel like it makes

3. What other strategies and behaviors can teachers and students use to self regulate during
class time?

b) Title of the video you chose to watch: Creating a Dedicated Space for Reflection
d) Summary: This video is about a strategy used to help kids reflect on their emotions and
actions. Instead of letting the situation escalate, students are given the chance to walk away and
take a break. This is a great idea because managing children is very difficult when they are
extremely emotional. Along with time to think, students are given worksheets in the reflection
space to help document what they’re feeling. This lets the students feel validated while also
giving them the tools to understand that they have to control their behavior even when they feel
very upset.
e) 1. What kind of statistical difference does this type of emotional support provide? (test socres,
2. What is a good goal students should set before entering the reflection area?
3. What are ways that we can make students feel emotionally validated without excusing
d) Summary: This strategy is used to help kids understand math problems. First, the student
reads it themselves without any numbers. This makes it into a story that is easy to grasp and form
a problem around. Then numbers are added to build the math element of the problem. After the
numbers are added and the full problem is formed, they address it as a class together. This helps
kids translate word problems into math problems. The 3-read strategy also ensures that the
student is extracting all of the relevant given information to solve the math problem.
e) 1. What does the 3-read strategy look like with more complicated math?
2. What happens when students skip steps and attempt to solve the problem on the first or
second read?
3. How effectively can students translate word problems into math problems using this method
of instruction?

d) Summary: Guided meditation has many uses outside the classroom. When implemented in the
classroom, it can be used to help with a lot of different aspects of classroom management.
Firstly, it helps with emotional regulation. Meditation helps set a good mood for the classroom
and keeps students calmly focused for the lesson. Spending time in quite focusing on breathing
helps students to better follow the lesson, and limits distractions in the classroom. This is a really
good strategy for overall classroom management and it has proven beneficial in my own personal
use.
2. What other practices can be used to increase focus and emotional regulation?
3. How do you keep young students engaged and quiet for any periods of time?

d) Summary: Reading aloud is popular amongst all ages. For young kids, it is their first
introduction to reading. It teaches kids how to enunciate words, and form stories in their heads.
Reading is about recognizing patterns and drawing conclusions from text. Reading aloud makes
it easier for the student as they can only focus on processing the story. It eliminates issues with
reading skills and helps to boost student vocabulary. It has also been shown to reduce anxiety
and stress students might have about reading. It also gives the teacher a chance to share various

v=c88LmOC86D8&ab_channel=BBCIdeas
d) Summary: This is a learning strategy implementing hexagons. Essentially each hexagon can
represent a subject or idea. Adjacent hexagons must have some similarity or relation to the ones
touching them. In this exercise, students will build a web of hexagons linking various materials
with relatable connections. This serves to show how education is fundamentally foundational.
Subjects build pon eachother, and knowledge expounds upon knowledge. Students are
challenged to see al lthe different ways they can relate items in their web, increasing critical
