c. If an aero plane travels 10000 km at a constant speed in 12 h, calculate:

ii. the number of km traveled in 30 minutes

iii. the time taken to travel 200 km

d. A cricket ball is thrown vertically upwards at a velocity of 25m/s.


Calculate:

i. the time (s) taken to reach the maximum height

ii. the maximum height (m) attained

Assume g=9.81 m/s2 and the air resistance to be negligible.

Question 2

a. Determine the resultant force of two forces of 5 kN and 8 kN,

i. acting in the same direction and having the same line of action
(2 marks)

ii. acting in opposite directions but having the same line of action
(2 marks)

b. Determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant of a force of 15 N


acting horizontally to the right and a force of 20 N, inclined at an angle of
60° to the 15 N forces. Use the triangle of forces method.

c. A ball is subject to two forces F1 and F2. The magnitudes of the two forces


are 45.0 N and 70.0 N respectively. In the figure below you can see the
free-body diagram of the ball:
