Activity In this lesson, students will be placed into three different groups
surrounding the white board. I will then give each group a map of
the world that shows the continents and the oceans. Once each
group has had time to look over these maps, we will discuss what
they have observed from the map and the placements of each
continent and oceans. I will then give each group a map like the
one before but this time it will be blank. Once each group has
received their blank map, they will be given 15mins as a group to
try and fill in the map. When the 15 minutes are up the class will
then turn their attention to the white board for another activity.
We will be using a premade Smart Exchange labeling assignment
made by Becky Southard called “Label the World”.

As a class, the groups of students will take turns coming up and

labeling each map starting with the Countries on slide 1. Once they
have completed the first slide, we will discuss how each group did
on the blank map labeling these countries. Following that
discussion, we will move on the Slide 2 and Slide 3 and repeat the
same steps.
