Learning Objective 3.6 The student will develop map skills by using globes
and maps to locate and describe major rivers, mountain
ranges, and other geographic features of
a) Africa;
b) Asia;
c) Europe;
d) North America; and
e) South America.
Pedagogy Planning
In this interactive white board activity, the children will touch the board to practice
labeling the map and learning the location of each continent and oceans.

Activity In this lesson, students will be placed into three different groups
surrounding the white board. I will then give each group a map of
the world that shows the continents and the oceans. Once each
group has had time to look over these maps, we will discuss what
they have observed from the map and the placements of each
continent and oceans. I will then give each group a map like the
one before but this time it will be blank. Once each group has
received their blank map, they will be given 15mins as a group to
try and fill in the map. When the 15 minutes are up the class will
then turn their attention to the white board for another activity.
We will be using a premade Smart Exchange labeling assignment
made by Becky Southard called “Label the World”.
