What sequence of teaching and learning experiences will equip students to develop and
demonstrate the desired understandings?
1. Talk about what the students already know about Africa.
2. Reveiw a map of Africa having the students asking questions
about the legend and how to read the map.
3. Explain to the students how to read a map and understand the
legend.
4. Have the students use the two links to create their own map of
Africa and to learn more about Africa.
5. The students can work together and create their maps to help
them learn how to make legends.
6. Finally have the students complete the worksheet and print of
the maps they have created.
7. Ask the students what they learned about maps and legends to
explain the differenbt reigions of Africa.
