Experiment No: 1
Experiment Name: DC Circuit simulation in Circuit lab web based software.
Objective:
1)To get familiarize with web based simulation software.
2) Similarity between theoretical and simulation output results.
Circuit Diagram:

Fig: A simple DC Circuit

Theoretical Calculation: Here, Resistor R1 & R2 is in series connection. So, the equivalent
resistance of R1 & R2 is Req=(4+2)=6KΩ.
Current i1=𝑉/𝑅𝑒𝑞=36/6= 6 mA
Voltage at node B=Voltage drop at R2
V(B)= i1 X R2= 6 X 2 =12V
Node A is directly connected to voltage source. So, V(A)=36 V
Circuit lab Calculation & Analysis:
V(A) & V(B) represents voltages and i1 represents current flow.
V(A)-V(Ground)=V
By definition V(Ground) is zero, so that,
=>V(A) – 0 = 36V
∴V(A)= 36V
For resistor R1,
V(R1.nA)-V(R1.nB)= (4 KΩ) X i1(R1.nA)
V(A)−V(B)=(4KΩ) X i1(R1.nA)
For resistor 2,

V(R2.nA)-V(R2.nB)= (2 KΩ) X i1(R2.nA)

Where, i1(R2.nA)
Is defined as the current into the nA terminal i.e. i1(R2.nA)= V(B).Also, V(R2.nB)= V(ground)=0V
V(B)=(2 KΩ) X i1
Now,
V(A)= 36V ------(1)
V(A) - V(B)-(4000Ω) X i1 =0V-------(2)
V(B) - (2000Ω) X i1 =0V---------(3)
The matrix equivalent equation is,

1 0 0 𝑉(𝐴) 36
[1 -1 -4000] [𝑉(𝐵)]=[ 0 ]
0 1 -2000 i1 0
Or,
1 0 0 36
[1 -1 -4000| 0 ]
0 1 -2000 0
For the equation, V(A)=36
-1 -4000 -36
[ | ] for (Vb,i1)
1 -2000 0
[-6000⌋ -36] for i1
We can see that the second row sets V(B)=-2000 , from which we can decide to replace the
variable V(B) in the remaining equation by -2000.

Now,

For i1= -36/-6000 = 6 mA

We’ve now solved,
V(A) 36V
[V(B)]=[ 12V ]
i1 6 mA
Simulation Output:

Output Verification: We can see that there is no difference between theoretical data and simulation
output.

Discussion: From this experiment, we learnt how to use simulation software to solve DC circuits and
all. We observed that there isn’t any difference between theoretical data and simulation output data.
So, we can easily get the output from a simulation software before execute our project.
