PART 1 - GENERAL
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including conditions of contract and Division
1 Specification Sections, apply to this section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This section covers the work of decorative lamps required for the project and includes, but
shall not be limited to, the following:
1. Portable Lamps
2. Table Lamps
3. Floor Lamps
4. Wall-Mounted Lamps
5. Wall-hung lights
6. Pendant lights

1.3 REFERENCES
A. All reference to standards, regulations and requirements of statutory bodies shall mean the
latest published editions at the time of contract. Product manufacture, testing and installation
shall comply with the following references unless otherwise stated in the specification or
otherwise approved.
1. ASTM E84: Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building
Materials.
1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of lamps and lighting fittings item specified, including material
descriptions, dimensions of individual components, profiles, finishes, and accessories.
B. Samples for Initial Selection: Manufacturer’s fabric colour charts consisting of actual units or
sections of units showing the full range of colours, textures, and patterns available for each
type of unit indicated.
C. Product Schedule: Use room designations indicated on drawings in preparing the schedule.
D. Samples for Verification: For each type of lighting unit samples of verification are required.
Where finishes involve normal colour and texture variations, include sample sets showing the
full range of variations expected. After selection by the Engineer, the unselected samples will
be returned to the Contractor.
F. Product Certificates: Signed by the manufacturers of furniture certifying that their products
comply with specified requirements.
G. Maintenance data for materials and finishes to include in the operation and maintenance
manual specified in Division 1.
A. Quality System: Furnish materials and products produced by manufacturers holding valid ISO
9001/9002 Quality System certificates.
B. Fire Test Response Characteristics for Seating: Provide lamp shade fabrics identical to those
that pass Class A requirements when tested to ASTM E 84 by UL or another testing and
inspecting agency acceptable to the Engineer.
1.6 WARRANTY
A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer’s standard form in which the manufacturer agrees to repair
or replace decorative lamp units that fails in materials or workmanship within specified
warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
B. Warranty Period: Ten (10) years from the date of substantial completion.
A. Space Enclosure and Environmental Limitations: Do not set\install decorative lamps until
work of all other contracts and construction trades in space is completed.

F. Pendant Fittings: Custom designed and made fittings including cast acrylic bulbs of colour
fixed by Engineer and furnished with suspension and electrical accessories.
A. Steel: Low carbon AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) Alloy Number 008, 1010 and 1020
where the last two digits indicate the carbon content.
B. Stainless Steel: Austenitic stainless steel AISI and Alloy 304 (74% iron, 18% chromium and
18% Nickel).
A. General: Finishes of metal components are indicated in FF&E schedules and specified in
Division 5, Section Ornamental Metal
A. Inspection and Testing: At the Engineer’s or the Employers option, decorative lamps may be
inspected and tested at the manufacturer’s expense to determine compliance with the
contract documents. Examination may be made at the factory by the Engineer’s or
Employer’s representative at any time during the manufacturing process, at any point of
delivery, or before installation.
