All matters related to students – other than those related to academics – are handled by the ADSA
who is also the Chairperson of the Faculty Advisory Board of the Students’ Gymkhana (which is the
general body of students of the Institute).

The ADSA is also the ex-officio Chairperson of the Institute Students’ Disciplinary Committee (ISDC).

3. Caretaker Students' Gymkhana Council (C-SGC) members list

Students’ Gymkhana Council are the elected members of the Students’ Gymkhana – elections for the
six Council posts viz. President, Vice-President and General Secretaries of Technical Board, Cultural
Board, Sports Board and Welfare Board typically happen in the Monsoon Semester of the Academic
Year.

The SGC Elections for 2020 and 2021 could not be held due to the pandemic and the Students’
Gymkhana is currently placed under a Caretaker-Students’ Gymkhana Council (C-SGC) with due
approval of Institute Authority till next elections can be held.

The C-SGC along with the Club Coordinators of respective Clubs look after the day to day affairs of
student activities in consultation with the Faculty Advisory Board.

4. Clubs and Boards of IIIT Guwahati

There are a number of clubs under various Boards of IIITG Students Gymkhana which students can
join as per their interest. Extra-curricular activities typically lend weightage to a student’s CV. Students
are encouraged to hone their talents, learn team work and develop leadership skills by becoming
members/ Club Coordinators of these clubs.

All activities of clubs/ boards are governed by rules/ modalities of Gymkhana which are updated from
time to time by SA Office. Prior approval of events from ADSA routed through concerned Faculty
Coordinator/ Associate Coordinator is mandatory.

The Gymkhana has 17 Clubs each with at least 2 Club Coordinators and each club is placed under at
least 1 SGC Member and a Faculty in-charge. Students interested in joining various clubs can contact
the respective GS of the Board (emails listed in 3 above)

6. Institute Awards:

IIITG has a unique distinction of having three Annual Institute Awards which students and clubs/
Boards can vie for. There are three such prestigious Institute Awards viz.:

The Institute Awards were initiated in the year 2018-2019 by SA Office with a view to encourage the
student community to develop conscientious community living; to excel in extra-curricular activities
and to recognize their outstanding contribution to the IIITG community and society at large.

6. Various Committees of IIIT Guwahati

Various disciplinary Committees are formed in the Institute as per provisions in the IIITG Ordinances
on Code and Conduct of Students. All information on IIITG Ordinances on Code and Conduct of

8. YUVAAN – the Annual Techno-Cultural and Sports Fest of IIITG:

The Annual Techno-Cultural and Sports Fest of IIITG which goes by the name of YUVAAN is held
every year in the Winter Semester of the Academic Year. The 2020 and 2021 edition of YUVAAN had
