Strictly speaking, democracy is a form of organization of the State in which collective decisions
are adopted by the people through mechanisms of direct or indirect participation that confer
legitimacy on their representatives.

Democratization is a process of political transition from one type of regime to another, in this
case to a democracy. ... A political transition from an authoritarian to a democratic
government is called "democratization", which aims to arrive competitively at a system of
democracy.

Democracy and human rights

Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;

Freedom of association;

Freedom of expression and opinion;

Access to power and its exercise in accordance with the rule of law;

What are democratic rights?

Set of fundamental rights of citizens that allow them to build the democratic will of the organs
of the State, so that while enjoying their freedoms, they participate in a political community;
by antonomasia, the right to vote.

In semi-direct democracy, the people express themselves directly in particular circumstances,

basically through four mechanisms:

Referendum. The people choose "yes or no" on a proposal.

Plebiscite. ...

Popular initiative. ...

Popular recall, recall of mandate or recall.
