Fireplace Christmas Ornament

Step 1
● Open up Autodesk Inventor and
make a new part
● Select “New Sketch” and click on
the XY Plane.
● Draw a 10mm by 0.2mm
Rectangle
● Press “Finish Sketch” and Extrude
by 5mm.
● Save the Part as “Fireplace
Bottom”
Step 2
● Make a new Part
● Select “New Sketch” and then
press on the XY Plane.
● Draw a 6mm by 0.1mm Rectangle
● Press “Finish Sketch” and extrude
by 5mm.
● Save the Part as “Fireplace Side
Walls”
Step 3
● Make a New Part
● Select “New Sketch” and open the
XY Plane
● Draw a 10mm by 0.1mm
Rectangle
● Click “Finish Sketch” then
extrude by 6mm.
● Save the Part as “Fireplace Rear
Wall”

● Make a New Part


● Select “New Sketch” and press on
the XY Plane
● Sketch a 10mm by 0.1mm
Rectangle and press “Finish
Sketch”
● Extrude Sketch by 5mm
● Next, do a new sketch and draw a
0.1mm by 10mm Rectangle at the
front of the roof and finish Sketch
● Extrude the new sketch by 0.1mm.
● This part here will be apart of the
Roof of the Fireplace

Step 5
● On the Roof, press “New Sketch”
and then Project Geometry on
the roof.
● Draw a 10mm by 0.1mm
Rectangle like before on the back
of the roof, finish the sketch, and
extrude by 5mm.
● Draw a 2mm by 2mm square in
the center of the roof
● Dimension the square to be
exactly 0mm from the rear of the
roof.
● Extrude the Square upwards by
5mm
Step 6
● Make a new Sketch on the top the
newly added square from Step 5.
● Make a 1mm by 1mm Square in
the center of the square from Step
5 (You may need to use Project
Geometry in order to do this)
● Finish the Sketch and Extrude by
0.5mm
Step 7
● On top of the square you just
made in Step 6, make a new
sketch.
● Make a 2mm by 1mm Rectangle
on top of the square from Step 7,
lined up horizontally.
● Finish the Sketch and extrude by
1.7mm.
Step 8
● Make a new sketch on the Front
Face of the New rectangle from
Step 7.
● Draw a Circle with a diameter of
2mm and finish the sketch.
● Now you select extrude and
extrude inward by 1mm, however
you need to press the second
button under the Direction
Selection for it to work.
Step 9
● Make a new Sketch on the front
side of the abomination you have
now created.
● Draw a circle with the diameter
of 2mm, but make sure you draw
it in the center of the old circle.
● Extrude the triangles from
around the circle inward by 1mm,
which should erase them.
● After the extrusion is done, make
a new sketch on the front face of
the circle and sketch a circle with
a diameter of 1.5mm
● Finish the Sketch and extrude the
final circle by 1mm
Step 10
● Select the Chamfer Option from
the 3D Model tab.
● Chamfer the 2 right angles
against the center triangle by
2mm.
● After you finish the chamfer, fillet
the circle’s both outer and inner
edges, the sides and angles of the
1mm square, and then the front of
the outer top border of the rear
wall by .2mm.
● After this, fillet the 4 edges along
the previous chamfer by .2mm.
Step 11
● Select “New Part”
● Click “New Sketch” and press on
the XY Plane.
● Make a circle with a diameter of
2mm.
● Finish the Sketch and Extrude by
9mm.
● Once extruded, it is optional to
color before saving. If you decide
to color it how I have it shown,
then please take a look at the
picture to see what needs to be
done next.
● After you are finished with the
part, save it as “Fireplace Log”
Step 12
● Open a new Assembly File
● Insert the bottom, rear, and two
(2)side parts of the Fireplace.
● Constrain the side walls to the
side
● Once constrained, move the walls
back so you have enough room to
joint the side walls to the bottom
● Constrain the rear wall to the
back, move it back, then joint it to
the rear
Step 13
● Insert three (3) logs.
● Constrain the first log near the
back of a sidewall but offset it by
0.5mm
● When constraining, make sure
the log does not clip through the
sides, rear, or bottom of the
fireplace but make sure it is still
touching the floor.
● Constrain the next log in front of
the previous one, against the wall
and offset by 0.5mm.
● Make sure it is not combined
with the previous log.
Step 14
● Constrain the final log on top of
the previous two, it can clip
through the bottom two but not
by much.
● Next, insert the roof of the
fireplace and joint it to the top of
a side wall, but make sure it is
facing the right way.
● Add some color and then you are
finished.
