Monastery of Transfiguration

Description/Analysis/Interpretation

The province of Bukidnon has been known for its agriculture and economic status. Nonetheless,
what stood still pointed to the sky is their Monastery of Transfiguration that was the idea of late Architect
Leandro Valencia Locsin. His ideas pertaining to the structure and style of the architecture were indeed a
superb idea worthy to be recognized and visited by many tourists either local or international. It was
originally built around the 1980s and remained to have that magnificent look up until today. Although it
is surrounded by many crops and trees, it surely compliments the dark aura of color to its surroundings. It
surely depicts high praise and serving columns of each side up high. Moreover, the idea it puts to the
tourists is an avenue where they cannot miss to witness and visit, thus ticking a bulb light inside to not
always forget God after countless miles traveling to places a person might consider stressful. In the end,
simple worship and gratitude of safety travel to God Himself is what matters most when in the Monastery
of Transfiguration. Furthermore, remembering the memories a person had to partake in his/her journey is
the most significant thing a person can treasure deep in their hearts.
Insights/Judgement

Locsin’s architecture is superb and reflective work as it comprises of ideas that people can
nurture and realize right after looking at the architecture. For me, his architecture is considered a
successful work of art, for a reason that he maintains having good communication and interpretation
between his viewers. Furthermore, he exhibits a type of artist that resourcefully come up with this idea
and intentionally put to the public near these trees and crops surrounding the architecture. The society
would perhaps be intrigued and eager to watch and visit the place more often despite their countless miles
away from the location. Likewise, artworks exhibited in the art gallery has the idea of collecting minds
from far away places to visit the gallery. Based on the architecture, the criterion that is best suited for
judging the artwork by Mr. Locsin is its aesthetic feel of the viewers towards the architecture. Its tone and
color have the perfect taste to witness surrounding light colors composed of materials that can withstand
cool weather that is perfect for the place.
