SET UNION
The union of Sets A and B, written as A ∪B and read as “A union B” is the set
elements that belong to A or B (or to both)
SET INTERSECTION
The Intersection of Sets A and B, written as A ∩ B and read as “A intersection B” is
formed by getting the elements that are common to Both A and B.
YOU TRY!
Use the Venn Diagram to Show A ∪ B and A ∩ B list downtheir elements
A={ 1,2,3,4 }
B={ 3,4,5,6 }
ANSWERS:
A' = { 0,2,4,7,8,9 }
B' = { 0,1,3,7,8,9 }
(A ∪ B ¿' = ( {1,2,3,4,5,6 } )' = { 0,7,8,9 }
(A∩ B ¿ ' = ( {5,6 })' = { 0,1,2,3,4,7,8,9 }
D. Assimilation
Given three sets A, B and C such that: A = {x : x is a natural number
between 10 and 16}, B = {set of even numbers between 8 and 20} and C
= {7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 20}.
