Schedule: Grade 7 Date:

I. OBJECTIVES
The Grade 7 students will be able to:
a) illustrates the union and intersection of sets and the difference of two sets. M7NS-
Ia-2

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Union and Intersection of Sets
b. Reference: Mathematics Learner’s Material, pages (5-8)
c. Materials: laptop, colored paper, and chalk

Consider the individual differences of every student

III. PROCEDURE
A. Routinary Activities
The assigned students will do their assigned tasks respectively. The prayer leader will
lead the prayer. The class monitor will give the list of absent and excuse. The
collector of assignments will submit the papers.

B. Preparatory Activities
a. Drill
Students will have the game MESSAGE RELAY. They will be group into
four (4) groups. Every group will form a line. The first student of the line will
read the message and her/his task is to guess the group name of the following
names written on the paper. After guessing the group name, he/she can start
to relay the message next to him/her. The last receiver must have the final
answer or the exact message. The message is all about names of object,
things, animals, places and person. The winner group will have
corresponding points.
b. Review
Ask the students about the definition of the following terms.
Set, subset, universal set, and null set.
c. Motivation
For them to be interested more of the discussion, students will watch a short
video clip. Let them observe and guess what does the video clip all about.

C. Lesson Proper
a. Activity
Students will have another group activity. Each group will have sheet of
paper contains group of words and at the back of the paper is the question
about the given words. They will be given 3 minutes to answer and the
winner group will have corresponding points.
b. Analysis
Based on our activity, which of the following shows combination of two sets?
Which of the following shows intersection between two sets?
What do you call the combination of two sets?
What do you call to the set that contains elements that belong to both set?
How you will illustrate the union set using Venn diagram?
How you will denote union set?
How you will illustrate the intersection set using Venn diagram?
How you will denote intersection set?
What is the difference of union set and intersection set?
How you will illustrate the difference between the two sets?

c. Abstraction
As a short recap of the discussion, what is union set? Intersection set? How
you will illustrate union set using Venn diagram? Intersection set? Difference
between two sets?

d. Application
Given a diagram give what is asked.
 Determine the elements that belong to both A and B
 Determine the elements that belong to A, B, or to both.
 How many are there in each set?

IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Illustrate the given set for nos. (1-2) and determine the elements for nos. (3-10)
write your answer in ½ crosswise.
1. A B = {2, 3, 7, 16, 23, 33, 35}
2. C D = {9, 28, 30}
3. E F = {5, 10, 12, 14,17}
A = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} B = {0, 2, 4, 6, 8} C = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9}
4. A B =
5. A C =
6. A B C=
7. A B =
8. B C =
9. A B =
10. (A B) C =

set.
