Terrain and Topography:

The school lies in hilly region of Sindhupalchwok district. Although soil test was not
conducted, medium soil is estimated from adjacent cut areas.

The school lies on mountainous terrain. Blocks are constructed in flat area.

As per the preliminary assessment and field observation by the team Blocks 1 need to be
repaired and block 2 need to be retrofitted. One RCC block 3-C-22 is going to be constructed
under DRSP Project.

Accessibility:

The accessibility to school is quite difficult, with unsurfaced road to the gate. Vehicle
accesses in all seasons

The school is about 5 KM from Bharabise which is the nearest market of that locality.

Built up area and Emergency Exit:

There is sufficient open space inside the compound for assembly.

Public Property and Social Issues:

The school is running in its school own land. There are no facilities by trust.

Historical Value:

No existing structure was identified with historical values.

Cultural Implication:

No any traditional settlements has been observed in the locality.

Infrastructure Implication:

Electricity: Available
Internet: none
Because of accessible location, most infrastructure materials can be available.

CONCLUSION: Satisfactory to proceed for further intervention.

1.3 Building Condition and Proposed Test
Based on the site assessment, following condition are observed. The most likely intervention and
appropriate tests to be carried out are also included. The more detailed explanation are presented in
the later sections for individual structure.

Buildin Structure No of Damage / Defects Most likely Proposed Test

g Type Stories Intervention* (at this stage)
1 RCC 3 No cracks , No intervention X
unaffected Recommended
2 RCC 2 Inappropriate Recommended for Schmidt
structural member, retrofitting of block Hammer,
cracks Rebar scanner
and USPV
* The more justifiable intervention will be identified in intermediate assessment report (next part of
the report) with more detailed structural assessment, cost implication and other affecting factors.

1.4 Priority Issues

Based on the site assessment and information available, following things shall be resolved at the
soonest for the smooth progress of the project:

 Approval of the proposed test

 Verify the land ownership of the school and decide if to carryon intervention or not.
