Lesson 4:
ACTIVITY 1: Let's Try This!
1. FOOTWORK SKILLS - A badminton player's success is dictated on his or her speed, which is determined by his or her
footwork. As a result, good footwork is a crucial component of badminton and will help players keep their side of
the court under control.
2. TIMING AND RHYTHM - You must be able to find a rhythm that works for you when playing badminton. This can
only be accomplished through extensive practice and match play. Timing is similar, but hand-eye coordination is
more important.
3. SERVING - To win rallies and score points, players must know how to serve well. The most effective strategy for
preventing your opponent from attacking with a shot is to know all of the different types of serves. Serves that are
placed effectively should force the opponent to defend rather than attack.
4. HOLDING THE RACKET - Even though it looks to be a basic skill, it should not be neglected. Every badminton player
should be able to hold the racket correctly. How the player holds their racket determines the direction in which the
shuttle is hit. If the players hold the shuttle poorly, they will be unable to control the decision to send it, but if they
hold it exactly, they will have a chance to win.
5. HAND-EYE COORDINATION - To perform these strokes and link the racket with the shuttlecock, you'll need good
hand-eye coordination. With time and effort, badminton players improve their hand-eye coordination. Badminton
players can enhance their Hand-Eye Coordination through training exercises such as juggling, catch, and eye
exercises, in addition to the sport itself.
