The Third Sunday of Advent
Greetings of peace.
The Archdiocese has a new policy on mask-wearing in church. Cardinal Seán is mandating that throughout
the archdiocese all people attending public Masses wear masks. This mandate takes effect on Saturday,
December 18, 2021, and expires on Monday, January 17, 2022. Mass celebrants, deacons, readers, servers,
choir members, and instrumentalists, should all wear masks except when they are speaking. Children under
the age of five are not required to wear masks. Children under the age of two should not wear masks. At the
Shrine, we will extend the mask-wearing requirement to all other public areas of the building.
While houses of worship are exempt from the City’s indoor mask-wearing requirements, the larger Catholic
Church in Boston voluntarily takes on this new policy. Admittedly inconvenient, the wearing of masks
during a pandemic fits well with our overall mission to protect and help vulnerable segments of the
population.
We’re hiring! The Shrine is currently looking for a part-time Sacristan to serve on weekday afternoons.
If you are interested, please email hr@stanthonyshrine.org with the subject “Sacristan”. Thank you!
Fr. Brian Cullianane, OFM who overseas the
four raffles each year here at St. Anthony Shrine
is preparing for the Christmas Raffle Drawing
on Sunday, December 19th. The best way to
enter the raffle at this time is to drop off your
raffle book or simply stop by and leave the book
at the Information Booth with Br. Paul or Br.
Tony. Fr. Brian will be available after all Masses
both weekends of December 11/12 and
18/19. Good luck and Fr. Brian hopes to call
YOU on the evening of December 19.
Year End Giving 2021
We are profoundly grateful to each of you who supported our mission during this calendar year. It has been a
challenging year, as we learned to reopen safely. Your philanthropic gifts are a beacon of hope to those who
thirst for compassion, charity, friendship, or an overall sense of welcome. Thank you for making a difference.
As the end of the year approaches, we invite you to consider making a tax-deductible gift to the Shrine. There
are a number of ways to make this gift.
1. Cash/check - may be given in person or via the U.S mail. Please note that the gift must be
postmarked by December 31 to be counted for a 2021 tax deduction.
