Sixth Sunday of Easter

Greetings of peace.

Happy Mother’s Day! Today we appreciate all that our mothers have done for us. We give
thanks for their love, attention, goodness, playfulness, leadership, concern, determination
during hardship, and sacrifice and prayer for us. May we honor and care
for the mothers around us as best we can throughout the year.

We also pray for all of those mothers who struggle on this Mother’s Day. We pray for
mothers who have lost children to death, are estranged from their children, have chronically
sick children, or are unable to care for their children. May God’s healing touch help all
mothers in difficulty, and their respective families.

Thursday, May 18, is the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. It is a Holy Day of
Obligation. We have the usual weekday Mass schedule for this day: 6am, 7am, and
12:05pm.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP Centering Prayer is a form of Christian contemplative prayer,
Five Wednesdays: June 14, 21, 28, July 5 and 12 to center awareness on the presence of God. This modern
12:45pm – 1:45pm movement in Christianity was initiated by three Trappist
monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts in the
Francis of Assisi: Messenger for Today’s World 1970s. Participants aim to be present to God, to “consent to
God’s presence and action during the time of prayer.”
by Robert Waldron
Centering Prayer is prayer centered entirely on God.
