Fourth Sunday of Lent

The first reading today is taken from the first book of Samuel. In it, we are reminded that God doesnt
judge by appearance or lofty stature, but instead looks into the heart. The liturgical season of Lent is a
great time to search our own heart. What is our disposition toward prayer? What are our motivations?
What do we see when we look at the prayer from our heart? C.S. Lewis said, I pray because I cant
help myself. I pray because Im helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking
and sleeping. It doesnt change God- it changes me.
May all of us be changed because of our prayer from the heart this Lent

Thomas Conway, OFM

Lenten Reflections
As we enter the Lenten Season, perhaps we might want to take a few moments in our busy schedules each day to reflect
upon what it is to be a Christian awaiting the Resurrection of the Lord. In the hope of aiding in that reflection, the
Worship Committee of St. Anthony Shrine offers the fruits of our search for online resources to assist in contemplating
what this season means.
