The cased study analysed the company background, product or service and
entrepreneurial characteristics

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD is a small medium business company that offers


services such as building repairs, road paving and drainage repair. The original name of the
company was SYAYANA ENTERPRISE but was changed to SYAYANA RESOURCES
SDN.BHD on 1 April 2021.

2.3 PRODUCT OR SERVICES

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN. BHD offers business types of services such as


construction of buildings and other service activities such as wholesale of a variety of goods
without any specialization.

2.31 BUSINESS STRATEGY

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN. BHD are focusing on various repair works such as
road and drain maintenance, upgrading drainage systems and making and repairing
buildings such as office rooms. Therefore, many public departments such as the education
department, public works department and government department always need services
from the company to upgrade the facilities of the department. Other than that, the company
also offers to clients such as job quotations to offer the best price to do maintenance work.

2.32 MARKETING STRATEGY

The company's target customers consist of various government departments.


Therefore, SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD does a lot of marketing, especially in the
government sector. For example, they will participate in various seminars or courses from
local governments to introduce their companies to attract more clients to do maintenance
projects. Other than that, each members of their company will present their certificate and
proposal to convince the client for their project.

2.33 OPERATIONING STRATEGY

The company will look for suppliers to find maintenance work tools at the best price
so that the maintenance work can satisfy the client. The company also lists maintenance
tools to ensure their tools are sufficient to carry out maintenance projects. Other than, the
company use the method of quotation or put a price estimate to negotiate with the supplier.

2.34 FINANCIAL ACHIEVEMENT

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD got the highest sales turnover of RM


4,988,55.40 in 2019. This is because the company has got 8 projects from the local
government to do road maintenance, paving work and repairing government buildings such

as officials’ rooms. While in the year of 2015, the company received the lowest sales return
of RM 1,474.844.52. This is because, the company only focus on drainage repair work and
construction of buildings for facilities on the part of the school such as dormitory halls and
open halls.

3.0 ENTREPRENEURIAL CHARACTERISTIC

3.1 Sees and acts on opportunities

Basically, SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN. BHD offers services such as building


maintenance works and road paving. Hence, the company will look for strategic locations
such as villages or felda areas to provide services such as building or improving facilities in
rural areas. For example, SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD set up their area on the
outskirts of Ipoh to facilitate the company to offer services to clients such as village heads or
felda heads.

3.2 Problem Solving.

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN. BHD focuses on development work. Therefore, the


company will make a survey in advance in the area that has been requested by the client to
upgrade or repair the facility. Other than that, the company also aware of road safety such
as potholes. The company will be in a role to facilitate residents in rural areas as they do not
have to lodge complaints with government departments to resolve the issue.

3.3 Persuasion

Many government departments are interested in doing projects with SYAYANA


RESOURCES SDN.BHD. This is because the company often succeeds in convincing clients
to offer services to help upgrade facilities in government departments. For example,
SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN. BHD will present their convincing working paper to their
client such as the date of completion and the total estimated price to do the maintenance
work.

3.2 Initiative

SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD not focusing on contractors alone. The company


is also aware that there are many important aspects as well to provide convenience to the
rural population. Therefore, SYAYANA RESOURCES SDN.BHD also offers other services
for the purpose of upgrading rural facilities such as paving roads, repairing drainage and
building buildings such as public halls.
