 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report has helped to observe and identify operations at the company, the real problem
faced by the company, and other challenges faced by entrepreneurs nowadays. It helps me with how to
manage a company and solve each problem with the least cost in a short period.

I visited Mr Ridzuan Nasir at his office in Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang which is a 30 minutes drive from my
home. I had interview with him which he was the owner and the manager for Rizunads Creative
Production. He was a friendly guy and answers every question that I asked politely. He shared his
experience of 10 years building his own company.

The result that I had by having interview session with him was amazing. I get to know what are
the problems that company had and I also get to know the financial status of the company. I noticed
that the company is shortage on workers and they have to hire more workers.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study

This study is a research on a local business which known as Rizunads Creative Production Sdn.
Bhd. . This company is owned by a local designer and entrepreneur based in Kepala Batas,
Pulau Pinang. The reason why this company was chosen as a reference for this assignment is
because the achievement and the potential that company have in designing, constructing and
creative industries.

This assignment had given us a lot of valuable experiences that we can use in our future career.
It also had enhance our communication skills and how to blend in with others.

1.2 Purpose of the Case Study

To classify problems and recommend a possible solution that will help Rizunads Creative
Production Sdn Bhd to cope and strive for a better achievements in the future.

1.3 Problems of the Business

We had identify some problems in the company. One of the biggest problem that this company
had is the lack of the manpower and skills to fulfill some specific task. Rizunads Creative
Production Sdn Bhd was built at first to cater the printing and interior designs works. They
started at first with just three workers and equipments needed to make the designs. As the
company grows, they needed more workers in order to fulfill the new task such as construction
and interior house renovating.

Secondly, the obstacle that they are facing is lack of machineries and skill workers. For some
specific work, this company required certain machineries. When this company doesn’t have this
specific machineries, they will have to rent it from other contractors in order to complete the job.
They also had to recruit other workers that have specific skillsets to finish the job. This is
challenging because if the are no available skill workers to do the task, the company had to bear
the consequences because delaying the duration of the project.

Lastly, the company had face various challenges while handling different kind of task. These
problems arise due to different kind of people that they had business with. The problem such as
loss in resources, delay in construction, and cancel of order are the kind that they had to face.

2.0 COMPANY INFORMATION

2.1 Company Background

Rizunads Creative Production was founded in the year of 2011 by Mr. Rizuan Nasir and his
beloved wife Mrs. Nadira Izzati. The office is located in Kepala Batas which is their hometown.
During the early years, this company only focusing on printing works such as banners, buntings,
wedding cards, poster etc. Then, they started to join the construction works and also interior
designing.

This company was established due to the passion in becoming self entrepreneur and like to
face the challenges. They also had the skills and experiences in related field before starting this
company. As the name represents, this company is wholly owned by this pair of couple.

When it first operated, they only had 2 workers. This company is driven to be one of the
successful bumiputra contractor in Penang. They managed to fulfill the demand for printing
works in local area and also neighboring regions. The client was ranged from newly weds to a
multi-million ringgit company.

2.4 Product / Services
This company specialized in designing and printing of various material such as banners,
buntings, cards, posters and many more. It also provides the interior designing services and
house makeover. This company can do any kind of construction works with the contract of
RM2.5 millions and below as it had been registered as G3 class of contractor with the
Construction Industries Development Board (CIDB).

2.5 Business, Marketing and Operational Strategy

Rizunads Creative Production applies several types of approaches to attract their customer. The
company always prefer a direct approach with their customer either through phone calls or a
direct meeting. This is to ensure that all demands and requirements of the customer can be
fulfill.

Rizunads Creative Production will tender a contract for any kind of related field with the
government or private agencies. This company also managed to be awarded one in every five
job that they tender. This company also would go from Kepala Batas up to Kuala Lumpur in
order to get new projects. This is to ensure that they would get continuous contract.

The social media plays an important part as they display their finished products or services on
Instagram as well as Facebook. This is to make sure that this company is easily discoverable by
new potential client. The client also will get to know the basic price for their product for example
the wedding card through the company Instagram page. The company also uses their own
official website to make themselves easier to be found through the Internet.

2.6 Financial Achievements

Rizunads Creative Production was built and started by using Mr Rizuan savings and also some
aid from the family. The first capital was about RM75,000. After the business had bloom, he
decided to apply for loan with CIMB Bank worth RM100,000 to buy more equipment and
machineries and also as a emergency backup money for the on going project. Mr Rizuan
always have saving for 3 months forward of operation for this company. For any projects that he
got, he always saved 75% of total contract worth for emergency uses until the handover of the
project.

STRENGTH
As for a versatile company, Rizunads Creative Production does have a few advantages and
strength that leads the company to achieve what it has achieved.

This company always finish the job on time and punctual. Sometimes, this company also
managed to finish it earlier than the due date. This is because this company is very concern
about the progress of each work and the work is been done by a schedule.

The experience that this company has is a vast. By completing different kinds of jobs, this
company managed to gain experiences and also skills in doing certain task. Rizunads Creative
Production is an expert in designing home interior design as well as card, banner etc.

Rizunads Creative Production offers reasonably priced services in comparison to its competitor
and their rates are competitively priced with such services provided other than just printing. In
addition, the price also can be negotiate depends on the budget of the client. This shows that
this company can offers different kind of quality of product.

This company understands that not all of the clients are Penang locals, therefore this company
would sent a representative to deliver any kind of product to any region that client located. This
shows the versatility of the company and the willingness to complete the task.

WEAKNESS

Rizunads Creative Production is a company with limited staffs, therefore sometimes each staff
have to work more than their scope of work which have affect the flow of the work. The person
in charge will have to do the administration purpose and monitor the progress of each work and
also the company financials.

The incomplete machineries also had affected the work progress because certain job cant be
done without a proper tools. For example, to take out the walls of the house, it required a heavy
duty hammer drill or even an excavator to complete the job. For this kind of limitations, the
company had to rent the tools or machineries to finish the job because it is not worth it to buy
one because different tools is required for different kind of job.

Lack of safety among workers is an important issues. This happens when there is no
supervision on the workers while they are doing the job. Due to this, accidents could happen
and this will cause loss to the company. Even with the orders from the management of the
company, some workers will tend to disobey because they feel annoyed with all the safety
equipements.

OPPORTUNITIES

Even though Rizunads Creative Productions face a lot of threats, they gain opportunities by
taking fully advantages such as Facebook and Instagram. Due to the exposure of the social
medias, this company had more chances to reach more potential customers even outside of
Penang. By making their customers satisfied with their work, the company could gain indirect
advertisement based on people’s recommendations.

This company also have the opportunities getting more sales by providing discount on package
deal of their products. For example, the newly weds could get discount on making wedding
cards, wedding management sound system and also wedding banner. The customer could get
more savings in taking all these packages.

THREATS

No matter how success is your company, there must be threats either from internal or external. There
are other companies provided the printing services as well located within 10km from the office.
Therefore, Rizunads Creative Production will have to work smart and give a quality services to the
customers in order to increase the competitiveness in the market.

The price of the supplies that they need to get is not stable and fix. For example the price of raw
materials for construction always floating and is not fix. This will cause the company to adjust the price
of any project according to the market price.

Some customers always had a second thought. Whenever they had change of mind during the project,
this will cause a wastage of materials because they might want to make different design not same as
original agreed design.

4.0 FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS
The company was seasonal which fully depending on the tender of contract and the printing works. This
is detrimental to the company because it is affecting the financial stability and can affect the staff
monthly salary. The company does not do any maintenance work that could have a contract up to 5
years. This company mostly get the tender of contract with the price ranging RM25k-RM300k. Once they
had complete each job, they must be looking for other contracts. For the printing works, the company
had no orders for 6 months during the first Movement Control Order which affecting the company
badly. But today, the business is going on as usual with the orders are back on track.

The company had to hire workers with skills in order to complete certain task. This happen because the
company does not have any skill workers. If the company want to hire skill workers permanently, this
will cause them a loss in revenue because if the company does not have any contract of work related to
the skill worker, it will be useless. Therefore, the company only will hire skill worker as a part -time
worker whenever they are required to do the particular task.

During the pandemic of Covid-19, the company had no orders or any work contract at all. This is due to
the Movement Control Order that restricts the movement of the people. Any gathering or activities is
extremely prohibited. Therefore, there were no income for this company for few months. During this
period, the company had to let go some of the staff because it could not sustain to pay the salary for
few staff. After the government had lifted the MCO and enforce the CMCO, the company feel such a
relieved. They started to look for contracts everywhere and never lose hope. They managed to get
various kind of contracts which help them to move forward.

In a nutshell, Rizunads Creative Production is a resilient and a smart company. To be the best, the
company have to prepare for the worst and give the best that they had. Along with a better marketing
plan, they will succeed to be the best contractor in this region.

5.0 CONCLUSION

To sum up, Rizunads Creative Production has managed to be one of the known printing and
contractor company in Penang. This is because of the job that had been delivered perfectly
every time and all of their customers were satisfied with their works.

We were grateful for the opportunity to conduct an interview with a startup company. We
also believe that in order to keep going forward, every organisation must have a primary goal.
The most important factor that can help an entrepreneur grow their company is strategic power.
It also serves as a tool or guide for new entrepreneurs like us who want to join the business
world.

6.0 RECOMMENDATION AND IMPROVEMENT

First of all this, company should try to add more branch because their business can
generate income. From that the company can get big revenue from the sales at the other branch.
If they built more branches in other different states, they also can boost up their name of company
and their product. Furthermore, they can cut the cost of transportation and it won’t be necessary
to use the worker for product delivery.

Other improvement that the company can take consideration is to hire more skillful staffs
and departments in company organization to improve their service quality given to the customers
and become more effective instead of only hiring the staff when they needed. By having skillful
worker, this could be an advantage to get a better contract of work. The company also might want
to train the existing worker to have more skillsets.

Next, the company could try to find new type of work that have long term of contract for
example book printing for university or school and maintenance work. This type of job will
guarantees stable profit for a long as the period of contract. This could be a great alternatives
during the times of pandemic.
