WORKSHOP ON EARLY LANGUAGE LITERACY AND NUMERACY (ELLN) AND


ORIENTATION ON THE ADOPTION OF THE BLENDED DELIVERY MODEL
FOR TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: ROLL-OUT
OF THE ELLN DIGITAL FOR K TO 3 TEACHERS

TO: Schools Division Superintendents

1. The ELLN program aims to develop in the Filipino learners the literacy and
numeracy skills, and attitudes, which will contribute to lifelong learning. With this, it is
the goal of the Department to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of learners from
Kindergarten to Grade 3 following the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum by
establishing a sustainable and cost- effective professional development system for the
teachers. The continuing implementation of ELLN Program (DO 47, s. 2017) to reach all
teachers has adopted the Blended Delivery Model for Teacher Professional Development
introducing the ELLN Digital for K to 3 Teachers.

2. With the preceding premise, and the need to make an impact to teachers’ learning
and development, a Workshop on Early Language Literacy and Numeracy (ELLN) and
Orientation on the Adoption of the Blended Delivery Model for Teacher
Professional Development: Roll-out of the ELLN Digital for K to 3 Teachers shall
be conducted on December 3-6, 2019 at a venue to be announced later.

4. The list of participants (please use the template provided in Enclosure 1),
endorsed by the Schools Division Superintendent, shall be sent through email to
gerardo.magno@deped.gov.ph not later than November 25, 2019. Participants are
required of SDS-approved Authority to Travel and a Medical Certification of being
in good health condition.

5. Participants shall complete the 4 days required and shall not be late during
the opening program scheduled at 10:30 am on Day 1 in order to receive certificate
of participation. They shall bring laptop, mobile/pocket wifi (optional), and other
relevant instructional materials.

6. Board and lodging are chargeable against ELLN Funds while travel and other
incidental expenses incurred in attending this training shall be charged against local
fund subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

7. First meal shall be a.m. snacks of Day 1 and the last meal shall be p.m. snacks
of Day 4. To ensure readiness, facilitators and support staff shall meet for a pre-
work on November 28-29, 2019. The venue shall be announced through a separate
advisory.

8. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired.
