In simple words, globalization for me means the spreading of a business, culture or any technology on an international level. Based on my concept map, globalization is how countries, people and businesses around the world are becoming more interconnected. The important concepts related to globalization I listed are economic, financial, political, ecological, geographical, sociological, social/cultural, and technological. First is economic, which means the growth of economies across this world through the trading of goods, services technologies and money. Its real-life example is the numerous companies which have become transnational such as Walmart, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, etc. Next is financial, global interconnectedness through a network of cities has become increasingly relevant for developing markets as they link financially with the rest of the world. Its real-life example are the stock markets because when one stock market has a decline, all the other stock markets get affected negatively too and so do the economies of the countries as a whole. Political, it is the idea that the entire world will eventually become a united nation and it is more on international collaboration. Political real-life example is the United Nations because it is an intergovernmental organization that promotes peace and international cooperation and security. Ecological, it refers to the idea that earth should be treated as one single ecosystem. We are all living on the same planet so we must protect it because what happens to the planet affects everybody on it. The real-life example of ecological is the climate change such a global warming which affects everybody on earth because we all live under one atmosphere. One nation can harm the planet and it will affect everybody. Geographical, it is possible to travel the world without barely any restrictions to help the world a better place for everybody. Global travel is the real-life example of this because it is used to be a major concern for people for any reasons. One reason was that it was awfully inconvenient because it took so long to get to the desired designation. But with modern technologies such as the modern airplane, global travel has never been any easier. Without the collaboration of other countries, global travel would not be possible. Sociological, people move all the time too, mixing and integrating different societies. Its real-life example is democracy because democracy is a system of government which has its own philosophy and ideal behaviors. Social/cultural, this regards to human cooperation and communication within a variety of cultural communities, covering points like family, religion, education and work. This integration has the consequence of countries losing their native culture. Facebook is a huge contributor to social globalization because it has connected many different people from around the world with other people thus passing on the diverse cultures. We all know that the reasons why Facebook is so successful is because it connects people together and it is incredibly convenient to use at the same time. Lastly, technological that many people from around the world are connected by a variety of technologies that help us to communicate with other people. The real-life example of technological is the world wide web which unites people together in this world especially with the various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and etc. All the examples that were presented affects us in our everyday life. Without globalization, our life would be completely different because society has evolved in so many ways through the integration of other nations.
