The exact medium employed is my basis for classifying the media formats to the
respective kind. Print media include textbooks, newspapers, books, and mimeographs; radio is
a broadcast media; and theater is a film/movie. As new media, there's also Facebook, Youtube,
webpages, and Spotify.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Activity 5.2

Transmedia becomes more about service and channel switching than crossing devices or
platforms as important platforms evolve towards a convergent device.

WHAT’S NEW

Activity 5.4

1. The introduction of numerous new technologies has resulted in the convergence of

traditional media (newspapers, radio, books, magazines, and, to a lesser extent,
television) and new media (the internet) by altering how people obtain information.
Traditional media converged as a result of new technologies. Instead of buying
newspapers and watching news at specified timeslots, we can now read and watch news
on our devices with just one click, anytime and anywhere, using data or the internet.
2. Because there are plenty of communication platforms are now available, media
convergence opens up new avenues for connection. You may now video call or chat with
your friend and simply converse and interact with them. You may also learn a lot of
things, engage with others who share your interests, and showcase your talent in front
of everyone by simply staying at home and spending little or no money.
3. The media has a significant impact on the dissemination of knowledge and information
about a contemporary societal issue. It also has a positive and bad method of
information sharing. In a positive sense, it can directly inform or update individuals, and
it can reach a large audience. On the other hand, it can spread false information that
can be utilized for unlawful activities, cyberbullying, and human trafficking.
4. Because of the convergence of media, today's media may readily represent a person in
both negative and good light, and this portrayal can reach a vast number of people in a
short period of time. They may easily share knowledge with the general public in a
variety of ways, for as by blogging. There are no restrictions on who can publish a blog,
with systems such as Wordpress even providing a free version.
