POSITION PAPER

Should face -to-face classes be Implemented?

Concerning the learner’s mental well-being, it is just fair to bring back face to face

classes. A lot of learners already raised issues about the changes of their well-being

during the modular distance learning set-up.

The right of implementing face to face through the course of covid-19 virus remain

questionable.

If ever it will be implemented in our town, when will it be?

As a student, I also experience the hardships and battle we fought through the

difficult times of this pandemic. Self-education and home schooling are difficult for an

average learner. Based on the survey 8 out of 10 G12 students are having difficulty

dealing with their mental and behavioral stress during the modular learning set up

and agree to implement face to face classes. Here are some of the advantages of

face to face learning classes according to Headspace: It will be easier to concentrate

well because there’ll be less distraction than being at home; can gain greater

understanding, stories and real-world examples from teachers and other students;

greater chance of completing course successfully by doing it in a classroom

situation. (completion rate of teacher -led classes is almost 5x higher than that of

online learning); felt more comfortable and learn easier in a familiar and traditional

classroom set-up or situation; can access more information and richer understanding

through teachers and other students body language and voice; have the opportunity

to connect with problem-solve, and network with other students for a wide range of

backgrounds.

POSITION PAPER

Since March 2020, face-to-face learning engagement of students and teachers

within school has been suspended, further transforming the lives of learners. Due to

the prohibition on face-to-face classrooms, DEPED announced the development and

adoption of other learning choices, including blended learning, distant learning, and

home schooling. However, since this affect the students, it cannot continue

indefinitely. Reportedly, as the authorities take-action, the number of new cases and

deaths decreases. As of now, 36,869,419 Filipinos are fully vaccinated, accounting

for 33.6 percent of the total population. As long as we reach at least 70% of the

Alangalang population, we will be able to resume our normal lives and face-to-face

classes.

Considering everything, since face-to-face lessons will soon be adopted, it is still

necessary to ensure that the procedures are followed for everyone's safety and to

prevent the spread. It is very reasonable to reinstate face-to-face learning set up; if

malls are open, so should be the educational institutions.
