c. value the learned lesson from the story of a polygon; and
d. work cooperatively in a group or pair task.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

III.PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, ma’am!
2. Checking of Attendance
Anyone who’s absent today?
None, ma’am.
Okay.
3. House Rules
Let’s first remind ourselves about the
house rules that we have agreed upon. Who
wants to read the first rule?
1. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness
inside the classroom.
With that being said, could you pick-
up all pieces of papers or candy wrappers
under your tables and chairs and throw them
in the trash can outside.
(Picks trash)
Thank you. Next number?
2. Put your cellphones into silent mode.
Thank you. Number 3?
3. Raise your right hand if you want to
participate.
Okay. For number 4?
4. Observe proper etiquette at all times;
and
Okay. Lastly?
5. Observe the following COVID-19
health and safety protocols:
a. wearing of facemask;
b. sanitizing of hands before entering
the classroom; and
c. maintain social distance at all
times.
Thank you.
Okay. Since everything is set, are you
ready class?
Yes, ma’am!
B. Review
Let’s have a simple recall about basic
geometric construction. I’ll be flipping
different images and all you have to do is
identify each. Just raise your hand if you want
to answer. Got it?
Yes, ma’am!
First image.

Protractor, ma’am!
Correct!
How about this one?

Compass, ma’am!
Correct again!
For the last one.

Ruler, ma’am!
Very good!
C. Motivation
On the board are six different figures.
Below are COLUMN A and COLUMN B.
All you have to do is group the figures
according to how they look like by placing
them on either of the columns.

Who wants to try?

Very good, class!

D. Presentation of the Lesson

Are you familiar with the figures
under COLUMN A?
Yes, ma’am!
Then what do you call those figures?
They are POLYGONS, ma’am!
Very good!

That is going to be our lesson for

today. At the end of the discussion, you
should be able to:
a. identify the parts of a polygon;
b. recognize a polygon according to
the number of its sides;
c. value the learned lesson from the
story of a polygon; and
d. work cooperatively in a group or
pair task.

E. Lesson Proper
Will you describe the figures in
COLUMN A?
They are:
- Closed figures
- With straight lines
Correct!
Will you now define polygons using
those descriptions?
Polygons are closed figures with straight lines.
Very good!
Will you read the complete definition
of polygons?
Polygons are closed figures formed by three or
more straight lines.
Thank you.
Class, would you like to hear a story?
Yes, ma’am!
Now, let’s read a story entitled “The
Greedy Triangle”. Let me read the first slide
then you’ll read what follows.
Will you tell me objects that are triangular in
shape?
- Roof
- Pies
Very good.
Who wants to read the next slide?

Thank you. Next slide.

Then? Will you read what happened

next?

Thank you.
Next slide?
Will you give more examples of
quadrilaterals that you know?
- Books
- Cellphones
- Envelopes
Very good!
Let’s continue.

For this activity, please bring out your

phones and open the file “Get to know me
more”.

Will you read the directions?

Are you ready?
Yes, ma’am!
Read question number one.

What’s the answer?

Vertex
Very good!
On the board is a Pentagon.

We name each vertex by assigning

letters to it. Who wants to name all the
vertices?

Okay. So, how many vertices are

there?
Five, ma’am!
Correct!
Next?

What’s the answer?

Sides
Very good!
We name the sides from one vertex to
another. Example, side AB. Will you name
the other sides?
- BC, CD, DE, and EA, ma’am!
Correct!
For number three?

What’s the answer?

Diagonal

Very good!
Diagonal lines connect non-

consecutive vertices like diagonal AC.

Will you name other diagonal lines?

AD, BD, BE, CE, and CA

Correct!
Next question.

What’s the answer?

Interior Angle

Very good!
We also name angles by the vertices.
Example, angle A.
Will you give the other interior
angles?

Interior angles B, C D and E

Excellent!
Last question.
What’s the answer?
Exterior angle

Well done!
Since Interior means inside, then
exterior means?
Outside, ma’am!
That’s right!
Exterior angles are formed when we

extend each of the polygon’s sides. Example,

Now, that is exterior angle A. Will you
give the other exterior angles?
Exterior angles B, C, D, and E

Very good, class!

Let’s continue the story.
F. Application
Are you ready for the next activity?
Yes, ma’am!
This activity is called “Who Is He?”
Will you read the directions?

Let the games begin!

1. Five sided polygon - GONTANEP
2. Six sided polygon - XAGEHNO
3. Seven sided polygon - TAGONPEH
4. Eight sided polygon - NOGTAOC
5. Nine sided polygon - NONNOGA
6. Ten sided polygon - CADENOG
7. Eleven sided polygon - UNDENOGCA
8. Twelve sided polygon - DEDOGONCA
9. Thirteen sided polygon – DECATRIGON
10. Fourteen sided polygon -
TRATEDECANOG

1. PENTAGON
2. HEXAGON
3. HEPTAGON
4. OCTAGON
5. NONAGON
6. DECAGON
7. UNDECAGON
8. DODECAGON
9. TRIDECAGON
10. TETRADECAGON

Nicely done, class!

G. Generalization
Again, what are the parts of a
polygon?
- vertex
- sides
- diagonals
- internal angles
- external angles
Very good.
Who can define polygon?
Polygons are closed figures with straight lines.
Correct!

H. Valuing
Class, have you been greedy before?
Yes, ma’am.
Would you like to share what your
greediness was all about and what lesson have
you learned from it.
(Answers vary)
Thank you for sharing your life lesson
with us.

IV. EVALUATION
On a ¼ sheet of paper, identify the following polygons based on their number of sides.
1. Five sided polygon –
2. Six sided polygon –
3. Seven sided polygon –
4. Eight sided polygon –
5. Nine sided polygon –

V. ASSIGNMENT
Cut out five (5) different polygons using colored papers. Bring them tomorrow.
