Special Winter camp

Report on the NSS Seven Day Special Winter Camp Held on 16th to 22nd January 2019.

The NSS Department of the Muralidhar Nanaji Mohite College organized a Special Winter
Camp in the adopted village ‘Rajewadi - Jogalwadi’ from 16th to 22nd January 2019. This special
camp is organized with the help of the peoples of Rajewadi. The main project for this camp was
based on, to make safety road for women of Rajewadi, carry’s water from well on their head
which is one and half kilometer away from their residents. Other activities such as awareness
programmes, health and hygiene, swachh abhiyan, plastic free village etc. were also conducted in
this camp.

The First Day (13th Dec.):-

On the first day NSS volunteers railed into the street of the village to create awareness among the
villagers about the ensuring special camp programme in their village for the period of one week.
This was followed by an inauguration programme held at Rajewadi Hall. The programme was
started with lightening the lamp and NSS song. The chief guest and other dignitaries were
welcomed by NSS programme officer Prof. Dipak Kadlag such as Talhsildar of Mokhada Taluka
Mr. Ketkar, Officer of Janathe Mandal Shri. Balu Zugare, Vice Sarpanch Balkrushna Zugare,
Arun Khade, Principal Dr. Gavande and Shri. Rajendra Mohite. The inaugural speech was
delivered by Shri. Ketkar sir and emphasized the role of NSS in the community service.

Village authorities welcomed the volunteers and gave best wishes for them. During the
afternoon of the first day volunteers interacted with village people and visited the people in their
houses discussed about their needs and problems.

After taking dinner volunteers formed four groups of volunteers formed and gave Unique names
to the groups such as Unity Worriors, Be Unique, Sankalp and seven stars. After that volunteers
discussed the projects and activities and made a proper plan.
The Second Day (17th JAN.):-

In the dawn of the second day, volunteers did exercise Yoga and pranayam in the guidance of PO
Prof. Dipak Kadlag, Pro. Navnath Shingave and Prof. Sarita Tambe. After breakfast volunteers
organized a Shramadan Programme. About 50 volunteers divided themselves into sub groups
and went in the streets, lanes and organized a cleanliness drive. Volunteers clean the village
roads and attempted to create awareness on cleanliness and hygiene.
In the afternoon volunteers carry water from well to experiencing the problems faced by women
while carrying water on their head. After lunch, the lecture was organized on the topic
“Shradhha and Andashradda”. The speaker was Prof. A.S.Gandule (Mokhada College)
who has given a very enthusiastic speech to volunteers with suitable examples. In the evening
session all four groups performed comedy acts for entertainment.

The Third Day (18th Jan.):-

The third day also began with exercise, yoga and pranayam in open space of Rajewadi village.
All NSS volunteers along with Prof. Dipak Kadlag and Prof. Navnath Shingave went to
Jogalwadi village for cleanliness drive. Volunteers cleaned Jogalwadi village and its roads. In
the afternoon session, the lecture on Health and AIDS has been organized. The main speaker
was Dr. Rahul Patil who delivered a motivational speech.

In the evening session volunteers organized a street play focused on the eradication of
superstition. After lunch volunteers with their respective group performed act on Social problems
such as Hunda Bali, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Superstition and save trees.

The Fourth Day (19th Janc.):-

This day was also started with exercise, yoga and meditation in open space. The subject of the
fourth day camp was the making of way women who carry water from long distances. After
breakfast all volunteers organsied and formed group and started shramadan. They all collect the
equipments from villagers and villages also helped students happily. Then volunteers started
their work of making road from residents to the well which is one and half kilometer away.
They clean the surrounding area, made stairs; increase the width of the road etc. After shrmadan
all volunteers went to take the water through the well.

In the afternoon session, the lecture had been organized on “role of NSS in life”. The lecture was
delivered by Prof. Anil Pathade ( Ode college). He explained how NSS and NSS camp develop
the volunteers.

In the evening session, volunteers organized and have decided to make door to door contact with
the village people for informing regarding “Akash Darshan “ Programme at night. The member
of “Trill Adventure Mulund (E) Mumbai brought “Telescope” and has shown Moon, Jupitor and
other stars and constellations. All villagers, school children and NSS volunteers have enjoyed
the programme. After stagazing the members has shown Power point presentation and supplied
detail information about all planets, stars and constellations.

The Fifth Day 20th Jan.):-

In the dawn of this day volunteers and professors also enjoyed “Akash Darshan” upto 6.30am.
Again the routine of exercise, yoga and pranayam has been started with same enthusiasm. After
breakfast volunteers was ready for shramadan and completed the work of making road then all
volunteers went to the well for bringing water.

In the afternoon session the different activities has been conducted such as debate, brain
storming games etc. The debate topic was “ can we wipe out corruption, is it okay to marry an
elder lady, do love distract you from your goal. Then Prof. Sarita Tambe has given guidance on
personality development of the volunteers.

In the evening session, in entertainment programme volunteers performed dances, group dances,
solo songs and group songs.
The Sixth Day (21st Jan.):-

On 18th of December 2017, all the volunteers are got up on 5:30 am and on sharp 6:00 am all
assembled on the ground for Exercise as well as Yoga, Prof. Navnath Shingave, Prof. D.N.
Kadlag and Prof. Sarita Tambe guided them about exercise as well as Yoga.

After breakfast all went to take the water through the well as well as cleaned and spread the clay
on the road of Rajewadi. Also our volunteers cleaned all villages again, then volunteers took
important project to remove plastic from Rajewadi village. The all volunteers decorated roads,
school and tree which are in the school campus also they cleaned the campus of its. On 1:00 pm
we all took lunch.

On 2:30 pm Prof. Nitin Sonawane who was the main speaker expressed in details his views on
Competitive exam. He flashed on the different competitive exams and suggested some books for
the preparation of exam. After the dinner on 8:00 pm we arranged the camp fire with the cultural
programme especially group and isolated dance of all volunteer around it. Very eagerly and very
smartly they participated in the activity. Then on 10:00 pm all pupils went to the bed.
The Seventh Day (22nd Jan.):-

On the last day, all the volunteers are got up on 5:30 am and on sharp 6:00 am all assembled on
the ground for Exercise as well as Yoga. After breakfast all went to take the water through the
well and as well as cleaned the ways in the village and decorated the roads. From 8:00 to 12:00
all activist worked well. On 1:00 pm we all took lunch.

On 1:30 pm we all arranged the valedictory function of NSS camp, all the villagers was
presented on this occasion. Sarpanch and the Police Patil of the village was appreciated the work
has been conducted by the volunteers and promised us that they will put all village cleaned and
also thoughts about the development of the village.

On this occasion Prof. Navnath Singave anchored very nicely. Prof. Sarita Tambe presented the
introductory part of the event. And after it all the volunteers marched towards their home.
