TRANSPORT &
INFRASTRUCTURE
WHAT IS TRANSPORT
INFRASTRUCTURE
Transport infrastructure is an important part of a nation. by
providing for personal mobility, accessibility to services and the
movement of goods and facilitating economic activity and social
interaction. The infrastructure includes ports, harbours and
airports, road, rail and pipeline networks, the depots and
facilities associated with these networks and the public and
private transport services that operate on them.
GLOBAL/INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES
Why do countries maintain transport links between each other and
when might they close them?
Good transport connections have direct benefits to people, businesses, the environment,
and the overall economy. This is why countries maintain transport links.
There are various reasons a country might not have good transportation system. The most
common reason is wealth because some countries simply don’t have the resources to build
expensive things like high speed trains and public works projects, even if they want
to. Other reasons could be priorities, values and culture. Even among countries that
roughly equally wealthy, there can be a wide disparity in public transportation systems
and infrastructure.
Land-locked are highly disadvantages because land transportation costs many times
higher than sea transport
LOCAL/NATIONAL
PERSPECTIVES
PERSONAL
PERSPECTIVES IN WHAT WAY DOES TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE
AFFECT WHERE MY FAMILY
LIVES?
My family leaves near to a hub of transport
systems such as train and bus stations. This
makes it easier to travel in case of an
emergency.
WHY IS THE SPEED OF A JOURNEY
MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN ITS
QUALITY?
The speed of the journey depends on when I need to reach
my destination. If it is an emergency, or I am late for
work, the speed prevails. But if I am taking a long route
to another country / state, I prefer more comfort over
speed
