Addiction to technology is causing significant loss of productivity

as well as problems in interpersonal relationship. It has been postulated

that rather than a separate entity, internet addiction is a manifestation

of a variety of depression, anxiety, impulse control disorders or

pathological gambling. There have been rehabilitative measures to

correct internet overuse.

INTRODUCTION

Technology has been found to have each negative impact on academic

performance on most of students. There are many technological gadgets to

which students are addicted. They waste their valuable time on this silly gadget

without worrying about the studies. This is resulting in their poor academic

performance. (Sadra 2011)

This is one of the biggest problems created by growing technology.

Student are future of our country, our world. The sad thing is that due to

increasing technology, student have been found going away from their moral

values. Internet Is Working as Curse for Students character. Rather than using

internet in productive manner, student use it as source of adult content. (Andrew

2015)

It was observed that students now a days are spent much time on

electronic gadgets which affect the study habits and academic performance. Due

to the upgrade of these gadgets in entertainment, student most likely focus on

what entertains them than on what may help them in their studies or for the good

of their knowledge. ( Vilia 2011)

Students often spend more time on using gadgets than studying or doing

different types of physical and spiritual activities. Students usu all use gadgets

for media and social Interaction in particular Facebook, twitter, and others sorts

of social networks. Gadget affects us in various sorts way. Gadgets from simple

tool powered by electricity such as a light bulbs evolved to phones and tablets.

These gadgets many improve or it many be a distraction and a reason to fail a

student studies or grades (Mendoza 2012)

The study state that internet is a huge networks that links computers

together all over the world using a range of wires and wireless technologies. The

world wide web is the collections of linked pages those are accessed using the

internet and a web browser. The purpose of using internet are online shopping,

social networking, games, news, travel information, business, advertising, and

much more. A social networking service is a plat form to build social network or

social relation among people who share interests, activities, backgrounds, or

real-life connections. Social networking site allow users to share ideas, pictures,

posts, activities, events, and interests with people in their network (Boy'd and

Nicole,2009)

According to the study cellphones are by far the most popular device

among American adults , especially for adults under the age of 65. Some 85

percent of adults own cellphones overall. Computer or laptop computer is a

general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a finite set or

erythematic and logical operations. Currently the number or computer users in

the world is 900 million to 1 billion i.e. found 80 percent or the world population

are using or having computers. ( Woyke 2012)

The study says that the smart phone is a type of mobile phone built on

a mobile operating system with more advance computing capability and

connectivity than a feature phone. Some of the popular social networking sites

used currently is such a facebook, Google, or twitter etc...Facebook was

founded by mark Zuckerberg in February 2004 .(Carlson,2010)

According to Angres, 2009 vulnerable group the youth becomes the

largest consumer of such devices and services, which in turns to make them

addicted. Addictions is the continued repetition of a behavior or an activity

independent upon the adverse or negative consequences or it can be

neurological appointment which leads to such behavior

Spargon and Van Viliet , 2010 says that in another aspects on which

the technology addiction has an effect in the life style of individuals. As In case

of addiction to technological gadgets time and choices are the concerned

factors, the lifestyle is necessarily affected bye the life style is nothing but the

way of life of an individual or a group of individuals or the society as a whole.

Somebody's attitude, values, world views etc. are reflected by his or her lifestyle.

So life style means making some sense of the self and creating cultural

symbols which reflect the identity of a person. All the aspects of the lifestyle may

not be voluntary in nature because one is associated with the society and the

surrounding plays an important role shaping the choices of an individual

lifestyle. Accordingly the individual create the symbols of lifestyle by which

she/he project the self before the world and also before himself .

Local

According to Borno, 2012 Gadgets is a small tool or device with a

specific useful purpose and function. Gadgets tend to be more unusual or

cleverly designed then normal technology. In today's life, task are maximized with

the use of modern gadgets. It is easier to accomplish daily task and people are

also able to do work with efficiency. One cannot even dare to imagine life

without smart phones, cell phone, laptops, tablets, iPods, and so on.

This study state that was conducted to determine whether wiki

technology would improve student's writing skills in a college English as a foreign

language writing class showed benefits to using wiki page where they would

write and 5 post passages and then read and respond to the passage of their

fellow classmates. Student participating in the study reported that their receiving

immediate feedback from the instructor was a benefit of using this form of

technology. Students in the study also reported learning Vocabulary, spelling

and. Sentence structure by reading the work of their classmates. (Lin & Yang,

2011)

Ashley, 2018 says that a gadgets play an important role in our day today

life there are certain disadvantages of using gadgets. Students get addicted to

gaming, texting, talking on phone. They show attitude towards studying. Excess

use of gadgets may create health problems. Because of use of gadgets we give

less important in communication between our mean one. Now a day people are

too busy of using gadgets. Living without gadgets is like living without air.

According to Eva, 2012 in simple words, gadgets are make for our

comfort, less cost ( in terms of time money and human efforts) so where is the

disadvantage of that gadgets. The main problem is the misuse at the things for

example regular use, addiction of games in other wags of usage of gadgets. At

last we know to understand that we should be able to use there things properly

so that it does not harm us.

The study says that it is often difficult to take a business-related decision

about another to buy the latest technology or wait for some new (technology in

business) invention. More ever implementing new technology in business can be

quite expensive: therefore we need to decide whether or not we actually need it,

above all, integrating a new technology in a business is a quite difficult task in it

self. Human beings are addicted to the new technologies and gadgets especially

internet and computers, moreover, young people are getting more and more

addicted to smartphone. Many scientists believe that addiction from smart

phones may cause blurring vision headaches and earaches and may be the

reason for cancer. ( Robert 2017)

Statement of the Problem

1. What are the effects of using gadgets in an individual’s social life?

2. What are the factors why students are being addictive in using gadgets?

3. How much time do students spend using their gadgets?

4. What are the possible illness they can get from over usage of the gadget?

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The focus of this study is to know what are the disadvantages of having a

gadget from TVL student in grade 11.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The beneficiaries of the study are the student who are addicted in the

gadgets , where they will be inform of how to enhance of using a gadgets. By this

, they can understand how to used properly a gadgets.

This research would be help to the parents because they can know the

effects of gadgets to their children . The parents knowing the risk of gadgets they

can help to prevent or avoid their child to be addicted with it.

This research would also be beneficial to the teachers and administrators

because they will be able to understand the changes of the behavior, perception

in life and academic performance of the students that were engaged to issue of a

gadgets. They can easily cope up to these attitude.

This research would be beneficial to the future researcher because they

can get some information that might needed in their research and some of their

question may possibly be answered by this research.

METHODOLOGY

This study involves students of Cuenca Senior High School as

respondents of this study. Descriptive research will used as a method in this

study. The researchers wants to know the disadvantages of having gadget to all

TVL student in Grade 11 from Cuenca Senior High School. An interview will be

conducted in the research for getting an information from the respondents of

Grade 11 students (TVL) it will be distributed to the 10 students from TVL. They

will be guided by the researchers to enlighten them how to answer the interview

properly.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The researcher used descriptive research as a technique. They used

these techniques for them to gather all the information they needed to

accomplish this study. Moreover, the researchers also used the descriptive

research for their respondents to feel comfortable to speak or express their

thoughts and ideas without hesitation

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The researcher used an interview to gather the information or data they

needed. They conduct an interview among Grade 11 students. The researchers

provide question to be answered by the respondents.
