Outcomes

1) Particles of charge 65 C, 48 C and -95 C and are placed in a line. The center one is 0.35 m from
each of the others. Calculate the net force on each charge due to the other two.

2) Three positive particles of equal charge 17 C, are located at the corners of an equilateral triangle of
side 15.0 cm. Calculate the magnitude and direction of the net force on each particle due to the other
two.
3) Determine the magnitude and direction of the electric field at a point midway between a -8C and a
5.8 C charge 6.0 cm apart. Assume no other charges are nearby.
4) An electric field with a magnitude of 3.50 kN/C is applied along the x axis. Calculate the electric flux
through a rectangular plane 0.350 m wide and 0.700 m long assuming that the plane is parallel to the
yz plane.
5) A solid sphere of radius 40.0 cm has a total positive charge of 26.0 C uniformly distributed
throughout its volume. Calculate the magnitude of the electric field
(a) 0 cm,
(b) 10.0 cm,
(c) 60.0 cm from the center of the sphere.
6) A nonconducting wall carries a uniform charge density of 8.60 C/cm2. What is the electric field 7.00
cm in front of the wall?
7) Let V=0 at x=. What is the electric potential 15.0 cm from a 3 C point charge?
8) The two plates of a capacitor hold 2500 C and -2500 C of charge, respectively, when the potential
difference is 960 V. What is the capacitance?
9) Determine the equivalent resistance of the “ladder” of equal 175  resistors between points A and B,
shown in the figure.

10) Suppose C1= C2= C3= C4= C. Determine the equivalent capacitance between points a and b, shown
in the figure.

to the part of the course related to the homework. Homework not uploaded to UBYS system will not
be evaluated. Homework sent by other means will not be evaluated.
3- Answers given after the assignment deadline will not be evaluated.
4- Students must answer the assignment by themselves. It is forbidden to do homework with others or to
get help from others.
5- Write your answers in a legible and understandable way with your own handwriting using a blank
paper. Homework written other than handwriting will not be evaluated.
6- Write your name and surname and student number and sign your signature on the top right of each
answer page. The assignments that have not been written completely will not be evaluated.
7- Create a single pdf file by combining all the answer pages according to the order of questions.
Assignments sent in formats other than pdf format and sent more than one file will not be evaluated.
8- Write your student number and your last name as the name of the pdf file you created.
