SUPPLIER A
Supplier A is a small manufacturing company based in Rajpur. It is a family owned and family run
business that has been operating in Rajpur for over 30 years. It has a small factory in the center of the
town from which it has operated since the business started.
It is a salt processor whose manufacturing operation involves the crushing and grinding of rock salt to
make a range of common salt and edible salt products. The manufacturing operation is labor intensive
and the company uses local labor from the town.
The company supplies salt products to shops and wholesalers in the Rajpur area and also to shops in the
eastern suburbs of Dhetra. The company has a very good reputation for quality, reliability and service
and they have in the past supplied salt to local NGO’s in Betaland.

SUPPLIER B
Supplier B is a national manufacturing company with an office in Dhetra and has three factories on the
edge of the town. It manufactures a wide range of products including salt, sugar, and spices.
Salt products include – refined salt, common salt, free flow iodized salt, industrial salt, and iodized salt.
Sugar products are made from sugar cane and its factory has the largest crushing capacity in Betaland.
The sugar cane is supplied by local farmers and the company have annual contracts with these farmers
to ensure a constant regular supply.
The company started manufacturing spices five years ago and then expanded into sugar two years ago
and then this year it opened its salt manufacturing factory. The factories are modern, and the operation
is gradually being automated to reduce labor costs and to improve efficiency.
The company supplies products in bulk to wholesalers and to industries throughout Betaland. Its
reputation for service and delivery is very good but there have been rumors that they have had some
quality issues with the salt products since they began manufacturing earlier this year. They have had no
experience of supplying to humanitarian aid organizations.

SUPPLIER C
Supplier C is a seller of a wide range of food products including salt, flour, sugar, rice, and spices. It buys
and imports the products from a range of different manufacturers. These manufacturers are based both
in Betaland and in other Countries in the region.
The company has a head office in Chagong and it has warehouses in Dhetra, Chagong, and Jumna Port.
It holds small quantities of the full range of its products at each of the warehouses, but it will also accept
orders for larger quantities of product, which it will then source from a manufacturer.

The company has a good reputation for supplying good quality products at low prices. The local NGO in
Mugla has had experience of using this supplier for supplying small quantities of rice. They were happy
with the price and service they got from the supplier.

SUPPLIER D
Supplier D is an international manufacturing company based in Homeland, which has operations and
factories in Betaland, Alphaland, Deltaland, and Homeland. The company is one of the major
manufacturers, exporters and suppliers of salt, sugar, and dyes in the Region. The company is made up
of three different divisions – the salt division, the sugar division, and the dye division.
The original company, which manufactured sugar, was started in 1950; the current company was set up
in 1985. It has two factories in Betaland, one in Teni, manufacturing sugar and the other in Dhetra,
manufacturing dyes. It has two factories in Deltaland manufacturing salt and sugar, one factory in
Alphaland manufacturing dyes and three factories in Homeland manufacturing salt, sugar, and dyes.
Salt Products: The company manufacture high quality Iodized Edible Salt/ Table Salt and Industrial Salt.
The products include – edible salt, iodized edible salt, common salt, iodized common salt, industrial salt,
free flow salt.
Sugar Products: The company use mainly sugar cane but also use a small quantity of sugar beet to
manufacture different grades of sugar for both household and industrial use and include a branded
sugar product.
The factories in Betaland are modern, efficient, and highly automated. The company prides itself in
producing high quality products in safe and hygienic factories; with the majority of the products being
sold to large industrial and commercial companies. The high-quality products are sold at above average
prices because of the quality.
In the company literature, the company explains its social commitment and responsibility and it engages
in a number of social activities in the countries where it operates. It has not supplied humanitarian aid
organizations but you understand that they have been asked to tender for supplying humanitarian aid
organizations in the past.
