Culminating Activity – Ethical Symposium

2nd Term, AY 2021-2022

Guidelines:

1. The culminating activity for the subject/course Ethics will be done by groups. Each group can have at least 5
members. The said activity will be a PRE-RECORDED VIDEO PANEL DISCUSSION.
2. The subject/course professor is tasked to assign the topic for each group. Each group must discuss the given
topic within 15 to 30 minutes timeframe. Students can use MS Teams, Zoom or Google Meet for their pre-
recorded video discussion.

3. The following are ethical issues to consider:


a. Restricting population movement during COVID-19: Ethics and Justification
b. Epidemic Ethics on COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters: When and Why?
c. Epidemic Ethics on Children and Infants COVID-19 Vaccination: Ethical Implications and Consideration
d. Epidemic Ethics: Balancing COVID 9 with other Priority Health Needs
e. Epidemic Ethics: Mandates and Special Privileges for COVID-19 Vaccination
f. Epidemic Ethics: Effective COVID-19 Vaccines?
g. Epidemic Ethics: Setting Priorities for COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation
h. Epidemic Ethics: COVID Vaccination in an Era of Vaccine Hesitancy
i. Epidemic Ethics on COVID-19 Human Challenge Studies: Is it OK for research participants to volunteer to
be infected?
j. Epidemic Ethics on COVID-19 Immunity Passports: Inevitable? Ethical?

4. Once the students/groups are finished they will submit output to their professor through their MS teams.
Please include the name of the members per group. The leader can give grades to their members beside the
grade that will be given by their teacher.

5. The attached rubric will be use for grading the symposium (please see rubric below).

6. Participants are asked to avoid the use of expletive and vulgar words that are not appropriate as this may
affect the grading of their project.

7. The activity puts an emphasis on inculcating nationalism, discipline, social awareness, and duties of
citizenship among Filipino youth. Hence, students are asked to add a personal touch to their video by
incorporating certain ideas and experiences they have had in the process of learning in Ethics class.
Furthermore, they may incorporate ideas in their project that are aligned with their degree or major.

8. Students are free to integrate the Nationalian core values and their personal experiences as a Natioanalian.
They may also cite their childhood memories and understand their position in the changing Philippine
society today.

9. The deadlines should be set by the professor. It is also the responsibility of the professor to present each
video prepared by each group to the whole class for analysis, evaluation and assessment. The professor
shall coordinate with other professor who are handling the same subject in compiling and presenting the
videos to the whole NUB community through different social media platforms.

10. This culminating project has 100 points and it will be part of the enabling activities for the finals.
