Grammar Focus
1- Two- Part verbs

In English we have two- part verbs like give up these verbs are called phrasal verbs.
They are consisted of a verb (give) and an article (up).

For example: Turn down the TV.

Put away your books

Turn the TV down.

Some phrasal verbs can be separable . That means we can Put the pronoun after
the phrasal verb or in the middle.

For example:

1- Turn down the TV . The Tv here is the pronoun

3- Turn the TV down. The TV here is also the pronoun and it came in the middle of
the pharsal verb.
Requests with modals and would you mind.....?

We use modals to make polite requests.

Modals+ Subject+ Verb 1?


For example:
1- Can you help me?
2- Could you turn the music down plaese?
With would you mind we use after gerund

For example:
1- Would you mind helping me?
2-Would you mind turning the music down?

New vocabulary:

1-Argue: To disagree with someone in words often in an angry way.


2- Criticize: To express your disapproval of someone or something or to talk
about their faults.
3- Complaints: A statement in which someone complains about something
4- Reasonable: Fair and sensible.
5-Nervous: Worried or frightened about something
6- Socks: A piece of cloth you wear on your foot
7- Magazines: A large thin book with a paper cover that news stories articles

10- Housework: Work that you do to take care of a house

supermarket.
13- Towels: A Piece of cloth that you use for drying your skin
14- Survey: A set of questions that you ask a lot of people to know their
opinion about something
15- Chores: A small job that you have to do regularly especially housework
16- Expenses: The amount of money that you spend on something
17- Strangers: Someone that you don't know
19- Air conditioner: A machine that makes the air in a room cooler and drier
20- Boss: The person who empolys you ; Like a manager
22- Bother: Annoy someone
23- Offer: To ask someone of they need something
24- Admit: To accept the truth and say that something is true
25- Realize: To know or understand something

27- Weird: Seems good enough for you
28- Staff: Workers. Group of workers who work for an organization
29- Buffet: A meal at a party or an occasion in which people serve
themselves at a table and then move away to eat
30- Gain: To obtain or achieve something you want or need
31- Snor: To make sound while you're sleeping
