At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:

A. Differentiate academic texts from non-academic texts;


B. Examine an academic text to establish its nature and characteristics;
C. Recognize the characteristics of language used in academic texts;
D. Analyze academic texts according to its language use; and
E. Evaluate academic texts based on its use of language.

1. The teacher will present the image of Ibong Adarna to introduce Philippine literature.
2. The students will share their ideas about Ibong Adarna.
3. As a team, the students will play Give me a Picture to connect cooperation and
responsibility in the lesson. They will be asked:
a. What is your part in the picture?
b. Do you think without your part, the image will still be formed? Why?
c. What values were shown while you were creating the picture? Why?

3. Presenting examples/instances of the lessons

1. The teacher will introduce the literary text: The Parable of the Rainbow Colors.
2. The author’s information will be presented:
3. The students will unlock the unfamiliar words through context clues.

4. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

1. The teacher, together with the students, will narrate The Parable of the Rainbow
Colors through the instructional materials which are colored boxes to be used for
illustration.
