 ELEMENTS OF SESSION
1. Host
The host drives the whole meet, engages the audience, plans sessions,
presents information, leads and oversees discussions. Every member of the
group will play the role of the host for at least one session.
2. Speakers
Speaking in public places is not an easy task, especially for those who aren't
familiar with the nuances of public speaking. Development of quality and
personality traits of good speakers to harness and become successful needs
constant practice.
The time limit for each speech is usually 4-5 minutes.
3. Group Discussion
Discussions on various topics stimulate an environment to test and
improve students' ability to think, their analytical environment and ability
to make points in a team-based environment.
One will learn how to agree and disagree, how to clarify, restate and
summarize gaining confidence to communicate well in English on any topic.
4. Table Topics
This is a short impromptu speech by the group members. The speakers will
practice, polish and demonstrate their thinking and speaking skills, as they
talk on random topics within a time frame of 2-4 minutes.
Week by week , as you adjust how you speak you will become more fluent
and accurate when you speak.
5. Word of the Day
One word is added to your vocabulary every session. A group member at
each session introduces a new word to be used in a wide range of
communication and comprehensive situations.
6. Timer
Managing time is one of the most searched qualities, which gets introduced
through this role in the sessions. The role of a timer includes monitoring the
time for the speakers, table topics, sessions etc.
7. Evaluators
Every activity is evaluated at the end of session to encourage learning and
competition . Through verbal and written feedbacks one will help speakers to
identify ways to improve communication and decrease misunderstanding.
The time limit for evaluations should not exceed 3 minutes.
