REF : C-ES-HR-SEA-MEMO-2021-0008
It has been 1.5 years since the declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic. Globally, it was expected
that the situation would be brought under control this year. However, till today, it still has not
wavered to anywhere near the pre-pandemic period. In fact the new variants have proven to be
even more challenging.
In the face of these challenging situations, through various means and channels we have
successfully conducted more than 13,000 sign on and sign off from the start of the pandemic till
today. In this regard, Eaglestar was considered best in industry and has been recognized by
various organization and authorities worldwide, confirming our commitment towards the
wellbeing of our sea staff.
Despite our best efforts, we realized some of our sea staff have to endure hardship due to various
restrictions caused by the pandemic. Some of our sea staff was stranded onboard even after
their reliever had joined the vessel and quarantine has also been made mandatory globally, be
it prior joining and after signing off. Nevertheless, the team is monitoring the situation on daily
basis, looking at various alternatives and working with various authorities to further improve the
situation.
Through Project Maju survey and various engagements, we have collated all feedbacks and
comments from the participating sea staff for the sole purpose of improving our services and the
wellbeing of our sea staff. One of the major concerns that has been highlighted was on the
remuneration package while being stranded onboard and while being quarantine in country of
domicile.
The management would like to take this opportunity to thank all Eaglestar sea staff who remain
loyal to the organization in weathering through these unprecedented challenges together.
Recognizing sea staff contribution, I am glad to announce that Eaglestar’s management, along
with the vessel’s owner, has agreed to provide an interim exgratia package as follows:
Strictly Private & Confidential. For Inter-Office Communication ONLY
[Open]
This package applies to all sea staff serving on vessels managed by Eaglestar.
Sea staff does not have to submit an application to be eligible for the abovementioned.
Whoever is affected under these categories will be paid as stated in their next payroll cycle.
Those who has been stranded from January 2021, payment is in progress.
Payment during quarantine will be paid on the next payroll cycle after signing on and after
signing off upon reaching home after quarantine has been completed.
I hope this note will address the concerns that the sea staff has highlighted. As we are still far
from normalcy, I would seek your understanding and cooperation during these trying times.
Should you need any further clarification, please refer to your respective manning office if you
are ashore or to the Manning Manager in charge if you are onboard.
Regards,
SUPRATHIVAN SUBRAMANIAM
