After obtaining independence from the colonial rulers, it became clear that certain of the
colonial masters’ impact in our political, economic and cultural aspects lingered. Some have
emphasized the Filipinos’ compliance with our government, of which just a few are obedient or
cooperative with our own administration. And it is for the reason that the Philippine’s
sovereignty has been questioned up until now. Although this circumstances is on air, I still
believed that our country-the Philippines has its total sovereignty. Let me give you two examples
that will prove that the Philippines has its own sovereignty.
First example, is based from the Article I of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which
provided a strong presence of sovereignty in our country’s territory and says, “The national
territory comprises the Philippine archipelago, with all the islands and waters embraced therein,
and all other territories over which the Philippines has sovereignty or jurisdiction, consisting of
its terrestrial, fluvial and aerial domains, including its territorial sea, the seabed, the subsoil, the
