I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

a. Identify the inverse, converse ,and contrapositive of and if-then statement.

b. Convert if -then statements into their converse, inverse ,and

contrapositive.

c. Illustrate the equivalences of the statement and it's contrapositive ,

converse and inverse statement.

II. SubjectMatter

Topic: Logical reasoning: inverse, converse and contrapositive if- then

statements

 Youtube: grade 8 logical reasoning, inverse ,converse and contrapositive
statements.

Materials: Google meet, canvas.com and Power point presentation.

Values: Critical thinking skills, logical thinking skills, reasoning skills,

collaborative learning, creative skills, and analytical thinkingskills.

III. Procedure

Teachers’ Activity Students' Activity

A. DailyRoutine

“Let us pray.”

“Good morning Class!” “Good morning sir!

n(The secretary will answer.)

“Ms. Secretary is there anyone whose
absent for today?”

Review
“If and then statement is a conditional
“Before we proceed to next lesson for statement formed by joining two
today, let us first have a quick review of statements which are the hypothesis and
our previous lesson. Again, what is if and its conclusion.”
then statement?”
“What is a conditional statement? A conditional statement

is a statement that can

be written in the form “If

P then Q,” where P and

Q are sentences. For

this conditional

statement, P is called

the hypothesis and Q is

called the conclusion.

Intuitively, “If P then Q”

means that Q must be

true whenever P is true.

Ok very good! Give him/her 5 claps.

Lesson Proper

B.. Motivation
Title:FIND!
Materials: laptop, google.meet and power
point presentation. “Yes Sir!

The students will be given 1minute to

answer each question and the students
whom got the correct answer will be given
an additional points for recitation and a
secret price.

“Class I will show you a figure , symbols

and equations and all you have to do is to
analyse the following by identifying.

1.) what brand of shoes is this?

Converse sir!

2.) What is the word on this representation

when we are getting a range , "y" or F(x) to
the power of -1. ? In rational function.
2.) Inverse
3.) What is the sign Of x and Y values in
the third quadrant? In the Cartesian
coordinate plane?
3.) Both negative.
Ok class, base on you're activity
you've experienced the word Inverse,
converse and The both negative or In
our one of the topic of the day was
Contrapositive. And now, class what Sir, our lesson for today was all about
did you think is our lesson for today?. logical reasoning including three
statements inverse, converse and
contrapositive.
Ok precisely! Give him/her 5 claps!

C. Ok class our lesson for today was

all about the forms in conditional
statement p and q in three forms such
as: inverse, converse and
Contrapositive.

Let me defined first the following :

converse,inverse and Contrapositive.
√ The converse of conditional
statement is formed by interchanging
the hypothesis and the conclusion for ( Students are listening)
instance the converse of p>q is q>p
means if q ,then p it may be also true
or false.
√ The inverse of conditional
statement is formed by negating both
hypothesis and Conclusions. For
instance. The inverse of p>q is -p> -q
if not p ,then not q.

√ The contrapositive of conditional

statement is formed by interchanging
hypothesis and conclusions and
negating both. For instance. The
contrapositive of p>q is -q>-p if not
q ,then not p _

D.New skils #1

Let's take the first example about

converse
Conditional statement: p>q

1.) If you are native kapampamgan, then

you are Born in pampanga.

Converse : q>p

If you are born in pampanga, then you are

a native kapampangan.
2.) Ok class it's you're turn.
Conditional: p>q

If two Angles are complementary , then 2.) If the sum of the measure of two
the sum of their measure's is 90. angles is 90, then they are
complementary.
How about In inverse. Let's try an
example.
Conditional statement.p>q
1. ) if two angles form linear pair, then
they are supplementary.
Inverse : -p > -q ( if not p,then not q).
If two angles do not formed linear pair,
then they are not supplementary.
2.) Now it's you're turn. Class try this.
Conditional statement: p>q 2.) If you do not live in davao, then
If you live in davao, then you live in you do not live in Mindanao.
Mindanao.
Inverse: -p > -q ??
3.) Let's move to illustrate example in
contrapositive.

Conditional statement: p>q

1.) if you live in davao, then you live in
mindanao.
Contrapositive: -q>-p

1.) If you do not live in mindanao , then

You do not Live in davao.
Now class it's you're turn to answer:
Conditional statement: p>q

If a polygon is a square, then it is also a Sir, if a polygon is not a quadrilateral, then

quadrilateral. it is not also a square.
1.)
E. new skills#2

So now, class let us try to identify the p and

q symbol and the form of conditional
statements.
Conditinal statement: if a polygon is a
square, the. it is also a quadrilateral.
Exmaple 1. If a polygon is not a Contrapositive: -q >-p
quadrilateral, then it is not also a square.
Ok class another example and You try it.
2.) Converse : q>p
2.) Conditional statement: if you are native
kapampangan , then you are born in
pampanga.
If you are born in pampanga, then you
are native kapampangan.

Another example.

Conditional: p>q
If you live in davao ,then you are live in
Mindanao.

If you do not live in davao, then you are not 3.) Inverse: -p>-q
live in mindanao.

F. Developing mastery.

ok class, let's have now a individual task , i

hope that you have understand concepts of
different forms.of conditional statements.

Answer the following: transform the Given

conditional statements in inverse, converse
and contrapositive. And it's p and q symbols.
Ok class this is 9 points.

1.) If you a guitar player, then you are a Converse: q>p

musician. If you are a musician, then you are a guitar
player.

Inverse: -p>-q

If you are not a guirtar player, then yiuare

not a musician.

Contrapositive: -q>-p
If your are not a musician, the. you are not
a guitar player.
.

G. Generalization
Answer:
“Let’s have a quick summary of our lesson Converse denotes the Interchanging
today. Again, what is conditional statement in the hypothesis and conclusion. denoted
the form converse? by q>p

Answer:
“How about inverse? Inverse negating both hypothesis and
conclusion. Denoted by -p>-q
And lastly, how about the contrapositive?
Answer:
Contrapositive conditional
statement is formed by
interchanging hypothesis and
conclusions and negating both.

Very good class give you're selves 10

claps.

H. Application

Direction: transform the following symbols into

sentence and identify the form of conditional
statement. base on the symbols and
conditional statement given.

1.) If mLA = 100 then mlA is a obtuse angle.

-p>-q
-p>-q
If mlA is not equal to 100 , then MLA.is
not obtsue. Inverse
2.) If the sides of a triangle are equal , then It
is a equilateral triangle.
2.) If it is not a equilateral triangle, then
-q> -p it is not a triangle. Contrapositive

3.) If LA = 40 degrees ,then LA is acute angle

q>p 3.) If LA is acute angle, then LA = 40
degrees. Converse.
H. Evaluation

Direction: Draw a conclusion from each given situation and identify the kind od
reasoning used.

1. Coplanar points are points on the same plane. X, Y, Z, arecoplanar.Therefore, .

2. A child’s teacher in pre-school was a female. In his grades 1 and 2, his teachers were
both female. The child maysaythat .

3. 1, 3, 9, 27,81, 243, … The nextnumberis .

4. Supplementary angle is the sum of two angles which is equalto180. A and B

has the sum of measures equal to180.Therefore, .

5. My Math teacher is skinny. My last Math teacher wasskinny. Therefore, .

I. Assignment
