INTRODUCTION

In this chapter, it discusses about the business profile and general

description of the proposed business. This includes the discussion and

explanation of the background, rationale, objectives, significance, scoped and

delimitation of the study. It also includes the research methodology, which

summarizes the feasibility study, research design, the respondents, the data

gathering tools and data gathering procedures.

1.1 Background of the Study

Having a pet is a great duty. You must feed, clean, and care for them. Pet is

frequent among the elderly, those who are socially inept and especially, to pet

lovers. Majority of houses have their dogs or cats which pet owners are

increasingly treating their pets as their family and a friend. Having a pet comes

with many benefits, including unconditional love, companionship, and emotional

support, as well as the ability to reduce stress and increase social activities.

Dogs, for example, may be easily trained and have a keen sense of smell,

making them valuable members of society. Dogs serve as guardians at home.

Dogs can also assist police and firefighter in rescuing people by using their

sense of smell to identify bombs or be trained as a medical dog to detect

diseases such as cancer. People may not realize it, but some pets can be trained

to assist people with disabilities like blind and deaf people in their daily life, such

as opening and closing doors.


It's essential to look after pets since, just like humans, they require food,

water, and shelter to survive. It is the primary responsibility of the pet owner to

ensure the health and well-being of their pet. When pets become ill, they, like

people, require medical attention and a yearly examination by a veterinarian. The

most essential thing is to return the love and attention that they have shown to

us. It is crucial to take care of pets, especially to keep them clean and healthy.

Some pet owners who don't have time send their pets to a pet grooming center,

which can assist busy pet owners with their pet's needs.

The idea for a pet grooming center came from the need to keep pets clean

and healthy. Grooming is the process of keeping your pet's physical health and

look in good shape. Being clean and leading a healthy lifestyle is good to all

kinds of dogs. It is necessary for them because it eliminates filth from their

bodies, such as dead hair and ticks, which can cause illness. To ensure owner

pleasure, Purrfect pet grooming provides a variety of pet grooming services for

dogs and cats. Dog bathing, fur clipping, ear cleaning, nail trimming, anal gland

cleaning, toothbrushing, and pet massage are all available at the facility. Dealing

with garbage is an inevitable component of any organization. Every firm is

responsible for ensuring that garbage generated on their premises is properly

disposed of.

The advocates recommended a "Pet grooming facility" to make a pet's

hygiene and health more important to the owner. Some folks are so busy these

days that they don't have time to clean their dogs or check on their health. The

supporters seek to establish a pet grooming center in Barangay Fatima General


Santos City to assist pet owners in meeting their pets' basic needs, including as

cleanliness and health.

The proposed business is in the line of service industry in which it focuses

a highly quality service standard at an affordable and reasonable price since the

costumers nowadays are experiencing pandemic and are exposed to a lot of

options and alternatives when it comes to where they can save their money.

2017 and is expected to reach $5,488 million by 2025, rising at a CAGR of 4.5

percent from 2018 to 2025. The market for pet grooming products in the United

States accounted for about 30% of the global market in 2017. Major factors

driving the rise of various pet grooming products include rising pet adoption and

ownership patterns that are tending toward humanization. This expansion is

further aided by increased pet owner knowledge of their animals' health, as well

as the development of organic products, all of which are expected to have a

favorable impact on the pet grooming products market in the coming years.

The global pet grooming market is growing due to a rise in the notion of

pet parenting and an increase in pet owners' discretionary cash. Consumers are

increasingly choosing high-quality pet food, high-end accessories, and a variety

the several types of pet grooming products available. Shampoo and conditioner

are the most popular products among pet owners hence, they dominate the

market. This is due to shampoos and conditioners being specialized pet care

products that condition, cleanse, and deodorize the skin and coat of pets.

Medicated shampoos are also used to treat a variety of skin issues and

disorders. Cats and dogs are the most prevalent pets worldwide, and because

they have a hairy coat, they frequently become filthy as a result of wandering and

resting on unclean surfaces, as well as other outdoor activities. Furthermore,

they are susceptible to flea and tick infections, which raise the danger of bacterial

development. Manufacturers' specialized pet products and a surge in pet care

awareness are driving demand for pet shampoos and conditioners. Pet owners

are becoming more aware of the need for safer and healthier products, which is

driving up demand for shampoos and conditioners.

North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and LAMEA are the regions studied

in the pet grooming products market. North America currently dominates the

still continuously tracking and evaluating the direct as well as the indirect

Dogs are the most popular pets in the Philippines. Philippines with the

highest rate – 67% owning a dog, and as a result, the cost of owning one is far

more than that of any other type of pet. This was another aspect that contributed

items such as a dog kennel. Another element that had a significant impact on the

rise of the dog and cat pet food business was the one-stop shopping experience,

Local Trend

Majority of the houses in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City has their

own pets, its either dog or a cat. People are really fond of taking care of their pets

since it can be the guard of house. Since most of the pet grooming center in

General Santos City are located in city proper so people in some barangays that

far from town or far from pet grooming center, they have to go there to shear their

dogs.

1.3 Project Description

Pet Grooming or Purrfect pet grooming is a business that encourage pet

owners for essential of the well being of pets as it indicate a healthy lifestyle of

dogs or cats that helps in improving their life span. This business is responsible

for washing and styling a pet’s hair, brushing their teeth, trimming their nails, and

deliver excellent customer service to pet owners. Purrfect pet grooming applies

three qualities that a groomer should have: (1) understanding of animal behavior,

groomers must be able to keep pets calm and safe, (2) Customer service skills,

groomers must be able to listen to the client’s request. And lastly (3) grooming

skills, it should have knowledge of different breeds of dogs and groom to their

hair types.

1.3.1 Propose Name of the Business and Logo


Business logo is a visual representation that appears on company signs, paper

and advertisements that customers use to identify your company. The best logos offer

more than simple identification: they also give customers a sense of your company's

character and values. The proponent’s logo is made of loving dog, cat and rabbit and

composed of pastel colors to express care, gentle and being friendly for the customers

and pets.

Purrfect pet grooming, it is a silly way of saying perfect but using purr like the sound a

cat makes.

1.3.2 Products and/ or Services

Since the planned business is new to the target area, there will be less

competitors in the same industry, which will be a huge benefit.

1.3.3 Major Costumers


Pet owners of Brgy. Fatima General Santos City are the major costumer of the

proposed business. In which the customers can easily contact us to provide our service,

the location itself will attract customers and urge them to try our service. Customers who

own pet’s range in age from 18 to 65 years old.

1.4 Rationale

There are a lot of pet owners in Brgy. Fatima General Santos City but still they

need to go to the city proper just to have their pet groomed. Fatima is a barangay in the

city of General Santos. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 72,613. In

addition, the researcher chose to study and understand the viability, the potential and

feasibility of the proposed business.

The research will create new marketing strategies to have an influence on the

target market and to determine what the potential impacts of the key companies in the

connected industry are.

The researcher would also want to know if the proposed business could acquire

market in the industry, since it is the first pet grooming center in Brgy. Fatima General

Santos City area. Thus, conducting a feasibility study on establishing a pet grooming

center that will enlighten the researcher about the business.

1.5 Objectives of the Study

The objective of the study is to determine the feasibility of establishing a Pet

Grooming center called Purrfect Pet Grooming in Barangay Fatima General Santos

City, South Cotabato Province. The study’s main goal are:


Market Aspect, to know what the offered services are and explain the target

market in the market research analysis, the market size trends and what marketing

strategy to include such as pricing and promotional strategies. It will also determine the

marketing strategies such as pricing strategy and promotion strategy.

Technical Aspect, the researcher will determine the development technologies

in which it is related to technical feasibility, also determined how to perform with our

service, when the service will be performed and how much would it cost to conduct a

service.

Management and Organization Aspect, to determine the form of business

organization, organizational structure, personnel qualification, personnel duties and their

expertise and responsibilities, and labor requirement for the proposed business.

Financial Aspect, the researcher will analyze the financial forecast including the

financial assumptions, to know the capital, expenditures, revenues. To determine the

financial feasibility related to the estimated cost of the project, financing of the project in

terms of its capital structure, debt equity ratio and promoters share of total cost, and

projected cash flow and profitability.

Socio-Economic Aspects, to determine how the project will affect the income,

taxes, prices, local producers and even to the local farmers in the community. It will also

discuss the relevance of the proposed business towards the society within which it

operates and its contribution to the economy.

1.6 Scope and Limitation


This study is limited only for the residing barangays around Fatima General

Santos City, South Cotabato province. The researcher based the information from the

data gathered from the respondents. The purpose of the study is to introduce a pet

grooming service to the pet owners, first to the proposed business area and will

eventually offer services to different places around General Santos City.

1.7 Significance of the Study

This part of the study describes its contributions to knowledge. The proposed

study will be significant to the following:

The Business-related students, as the researcher’s study can be their guide on

conducting research with the same product to offer or any related aspects of the study.

The study will help and guide the students whom searched for references, in gathering

ideas for their selected study.

The Future Researchers, the study will help them to understand better the offered

serviced or having almost the same products produced, which they can relate and

compare. It will also be a guide on the future researchers will conduct their own study.

The General Public, to provide the public of some information on how the business

was created, what are the transparency factor that the business can provide. It provides

information on how will they operate the business and how would it be in the market for

the satisfaction of the costumers wants and needs in relation to the conducted study.

The Manager, as a helper of a business they are to be assessed of their capabilities in

facing the business struggles, to be aware of the possible threats that may arise in the

course the of business.


The Researchers, it is to gain ideas, knowledge, and experience in conducting a

feasibility study. It can also be a guide in the researcher’s future business or career.

This section refers to the tools used in conducting the study. This includes the

research design, locale of the study, respondents of the study and the data gathering

tools and procedures. It is very important to have the precise plan of the business, as it

targets the customers’

This is all about the overall process of conducting the study, it generally

concerns on how feasible it is of establishing a pet grooming center called Purrfect pet

grooming in Barangay Fatima General Santos City, South Cotabato province. Analysis

of the study were incorporated with research methods using data gathering tools and

procedures that were administered on the data respondents identified.

Internet. This tool will help the researcher to refer the proposed business

to some existing related business. In which it helps the researcher to supplement the

data gathered from different sources and articles. Internet research will be useful to the

researchers for them to gather more information related to the study.

In the process of gathering the data, the following steps will be conducted

by the researcher.

First, the researcher will determine the proposed firm's target market, which is

one of the most significant aspects of presenting a business. The second step is to

conduct surveys and interviews with consenting and relevant respondents. Third, look

for the suggested study and do research on related literature to complement the data

acquired from the surveys and interviews that have been conducted. Finally, the

researcher will synthesize all of the obtained data so that the researcher may determine

the best course of action for its study.
