Mapping Canada’s Natural Resources

1. You are going to map Canada’s major natural resources and indicate whether they are renewable or non-
renewable.

2. Start mapping: (*everything should be in your legend*)

a. Turn to pg 251 in your text book and map which provinces have major agricultural lands and crop
area (you will need to create a symbol for agriculture)

b. Turn to pg 262 and map the provinces with fishing as their natural resource (create a symbol for
fisheries)

c. Turn to pg 276 and map the provinces and territories with mining as a major natural resource
(create a symbol for mining)

d. Turn to pg 285 and map your best guess for which provinces and territories have forestry as their
major natural resources (create a symbol for forestry)

e. Turn to pg 316 and map which provinces and territories have fuel minerals as a major natural
resource (create a symbol for fuel minerals).

f. Turn to pg 322 and map which provinces have hydroelectricity as a major natural resource
(create a symbol for hydroelectricity).

g. Create a symbol for renewable resources and non-renewable resource and beside each of your
symbols on the map indicate whether it is renewable or non-renewable.

h. Don’t forget to use proper map components:
