Notes:
1) Where multiple modes of transportation are used, the most severe condition
governs.
2) 1g would be a load equal to the weight of the vessel.
A minimum impact factor of 2 shall be applied to the lift weight for designing lifting
devices. The basis for the lift weight shall include all components to be included in

the lift (e.g. ladders/platforms, insulation, additional piping with insulation, etc.) plus a
10% margin.
Local stresses in the vessel shell/head/skirt/base rings from the lifting attachments
(e.g., lugs, trunnions, etc.) shall be determined for the imposed loadings using local
stress analysis procedures such as WRC Bulletins 107 or 297, or finite element
analysis. For the rigging condition, the allowable stresses are: 1.5S for local primary
membrane stress and 3S for primary membrane plus secondary bending stress at
nozzles, platform lugs, etc.
S shall be the Code-allowable stress at the design temperature.
Shear stresses for fillet welds on the lifting attachments to the vessel shell/head shall
not exceed 0.55 times the Code-allowable stress (design stress intensity) at 38°C
(100°F) for the material selected.
The design of equipment, internals, attachments, anchor bolts and supports shall
accommodate at least the following load combinations:
Case Loads
5.3 Materials
Refer to the data sheet(s) and materials selection report (STOD-GEN-AED-0000-YL-
REP-0001) for construction materials details.
5.10 Bolting
Bolt sizes (including studs and nuts), threads, and marking shall conform to ASME B
1.1 with threads Class 2A External and 2B Internal.
5.11 Internals
Unless otherwise specified, removable and non-removable carbon steel internal
piping shall be greater of design code requirements or 3.0mm minimum thickness
before corrosion allowance is added.
Unless otherwise specified, removable internals are to be removable through vessel
manhole or shell flange connection.
All internals components shall be clearly identified with the SUPPLIER name, item
number, tag number and purchase order number to facilitate installation in the field, if
required.
5.14 Painting
Surface preparation and finish painting shall be as specified in the Coating and
Painting Specification STOD-GEN-AED-0000-YL-SPE-0012.
5.15 Instrumentation
All instruments shall meet the requirements specified in the General Instrument
Specification STOD-GEN-AED-0000-CI-SPE-0004.
9.5 Internals
Whenever possible, process internals shall be pre-installed and shipped with the
pressure vessel. When this is not feasible the internals shall be adequately marked
and cross reference made to the equipment in which they are installed. The
SUPPLIER (or sub-SUPPLIER) shall then ensure that internals are shipped in
wooden crates suitable for 6 months storage and protection.
Space shall be provided for the additional information / stamping required by the IVB.
The CONTRACTOR will provide unique project tag numbers for equipment,
instruments, valves etc., shown on the Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. Tag
numbers shall be shown on all relevant SUPPLIER’s documents.
All items with a project tag number shall be physically tagged with a permanently
attached stainless steel plate or label. Vessel and coded equipment nameplates
shall comply with the requirements of the design and manufacturing code used.
The nameplate for main equipment shall be engraved or stamped in letters and
figures 10mm high.
All nameplates shall be in English and Host Country language (if required) and
permanently fixed to the equipment. Etching shall not be used.
10.2 Documentation
All documents issued by the SUPPLIER shall be agreed during the bid phase. The
SUPPLIER shall use the block of numbers given to them with the Purchase Order.
