MSC Project Management

The current industrial development is led by a combination of technological innovations and a

rapidly changing business environment. I discovered my aptitude and interest for business and
enterprising activities back in 2013, when I was in high school. Taking part in a 15 day program for ____,
I successfully made strategies and guided a team of 20 students to boost sales and market penetration by
organizing successful mini-events. While I was being awarded the “Highest Revenue Achiever” award, I
remembered thinking that I was good at this. Thereafter, I started my personal journey as an entrepreneur
and I started conducting events for small businesses sourced through a personal network of associates and
friends. Since, then I had completed a fulltime bachelor’s course in Civil Engineering and gained a robust
experience of management in the Ed-tech sector. Owing to my family’s business background and my
recent professional experiences, I have learnt that businesses don’t run on technical knowledge alone but
require great managerial skills and pragmatic leadership. Thus a Master’s education in Project
Management has become a vital tool to achieve my entrepreneurial aims in the global Business / Project
management sector. With the right qualifications and relevant work experience, I hope to implement my
vision and set up a successful business enterprise in future. For this purpose, I have decided to pursue the
internationally reputed Master’s program in Project Management from the _____University.
I have always been interested in understanding the technical processes and the science behind
complex engineering processes. Thus, after finishing high school, I choose to study the Diploma in
Engineering (Civil Engg) program offered by the _____. I choose to study Engineering as it offers an in-
depth understanding of technical processes and allowed one to build up a range of transferrable skills that
is useful to gain employment in diverse sectors and roles. This program served as the basic foundation
course that later on helped me study Civil Engineering in a full-time bachelor’s program at IIE between
(2017 – 2020). The period during the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering was the most formative
time of my academic life. The course enabled me to understand key concepts in mathematics, CS,
construction technologies, engineering designs along with imparting a much needed scientific
temperament. The program also helped me understand various elements of construction projects
management like budgeting, planning and innovation. My exposure to this field was enhanced by my
experience of our family business (managed by my elder cousin) that indulges in construction projects
spanning design and construction of interior and exteriors both. As, I observed the site work and internal
management processes of the company, my conviction to pursue a career in management became even
stronger.
In the final year of my bachelor’s program, I was fortunate to receive an internship offer at
architectural interior designing (civil) firm as a Project Engineer (Intern). The two month period was a
crucial learning experience and allowed me to gain valuable experience in project management, planning,
project documentation, client presentations, conducting client meetings, vendor management, negotiations
and project logistics. The internship opened up a pandora’s box of professional interests and motivated
me to expand my skill set and knowledge in the abovementioned fields. On graduation from the course, I
set out to look for work opportunities in the management sector. However, I did not limit myself to Civil
Engineering industry, as I wanted to expand the scope of my experiences and discover new domains of
work. Thus, when I landed my first job at ______, as a Business Development Executive and worked
enthusiastically to grow the company business. Parternering with marketing, sales and production
managers and collaborating on a daily basis with the sales team, I engaged in rapid customer relationship
building and customer acquisition thereby boosting brand awareness and optimizing sales. In this profile,
I also acquainted myself with the analytical and operational elements of CRM tool.
I left the company a year later as I believed that I had set in place effective policies and internal
SOPs to carry on the good work forward. The company ____. had just announced an open interview on
LinkedIn for the role of a Regional Manager. The scale and size of the company was many times more
than my previous employer and I was not surprised to find candidates with far more experience applying
for the post along with me. Knowing well that my only advantage over my competition was my relevant
work experience, I went through four rounds of rigorous interviews and got selected for the role. This was
a big achievement for me and reinforced my belief in the fact that actions speaks louder than words. In
this role, I handled a team of 30 members. As a regional manager I was responsible for 3 territories and
guided territory managers in sales and business development strategies. The work experience was vital in
terms of learning to work in high pressure situations and managing client/employ/management
expectations. As I continued to implement standardizations of SOPs and consistently achieved sales
targets, I looked to build up on my contributions through active participation in strategizing and
management level decision making. At this stage, I have got a extensive experience of leading business
development and sales activities in the Indian Ed-tech markets. Going forward I wish to leverage this
experience and pursue higher education in Management field, so as to expand my professional horizons
and learn about the management challenges and practices applicable in the project management sector.
Thus, I have decided to do my masters in MSC Project Management, as a first step towards my dreams.
A Master’s in International Project Management course will allow me to upgrade and improve
upon my knowledge related to project planning, quality control, strategic procurements of raw material
and disputes resolution along with other aspects of management. Also, the program structure offers
opportunities for skill development and skill acquisition. The ability to control the project life-cycle while
maintaining cost, quality and project deadlines is a complex task that requires an in-depth understanding
of a variety of subjects and practical issues. My studies shall help me improve upon skills such as
organizational, leadership and innovation capabilities in an international work environment. The program
will provide me with skills and knowledge in various fields such as Global Strategy, International
Economics and Innovations and Management across diverse cultures to name a few. The course promises
modules and concentration areas like Leadership, Project Business Analysis and Technical Project
Management. They are critical to my professional success in the industry. It will help me improve my
technical understanding and crucial skills like Negotiations, Budgeting, HR management, Contract
Management, Information management and Strategic planning. As someone who prides themselves on
their ability to communicate across cultures, I believe I would be the perfect fit for a program that
incorporates students from around the globe.
As an engineering student, I have a strong command over qualitative and quantitative aspects of
business operations, especially in the civil construction and Ed-tech sectors. Building upon this, I plan to
apply to large MNCs in India and globally after finishing the Master’s program and gaining leadership
positions within an organization. This opportunity will allow me access to a career stream that is
conducive for my growth into a capable leader, planner and manager. However, with a diverse skill set, I
would also be open to managing key projects in innovative and well funded start ups where I would
receive a greater flexibility in applying my own ideas to work.
Once during my college I worked at a toy store as a comic character to attract kids. I was good at
the job and the store paid an additional bonus for my services. Whether it was my engineering studies or
my experiences in business development domain, I never shied away from taking on new experiences and
challenges. I find this method the best way to discover my hidden potential and acquire new traits and
abilities. I am fairly confident that I shall be able to make the most of this study experience if given this
opportunity. My interest in sports, social service and professional networking is the key to maintaining a
healthy mental outlook throughout the duration of the course and enjoy the benefits of an international
study environment. The major advantage of such a course is the personal development opportunity that
comes with it and this shall be central to my transformation from an academic to a professionally oriented
person. With its career-focused and industry-driven courses, the UK academic system offers a gamut of
practical learning options and universally recognized credential. Lastly, the highly valued international
qualification from a reputed University like Teesside University will certainly give me an edge in the job
markets as global recruiters and companies are assured that the _____University’s students will possess a
greater skill set and have undergone robust academic and practical training in the institution.
Hence, I look forward with great anticipation to start my professional studies at your reputed
institution and embark on a journey towards success and achievements.
