Wuthering Heights | Chapter 30 analysis.

Nellie goes to Wuthering Heights to visit Cathy, but she cannot

see her because the servant Joseph grabbed the sling of the door
and did not let her in and said that Cathy did not want to see
anyone and that Heathcliff was not at home.
‫ نيلي تذهب الى مرتفعات ويذرينغ لزيارة كاثي لكنها لم تتمكن من رؤيتها ألن الخادم‬-
‫يوسف امسك بأكرة الباب ولم يسمح لها بالدخول وقال ان كاثي ال ترغب برؤية احد‬
.‫وان هيثكلف غير موجود في المنزل‬
Zilla, the housekeeper in Wuthering Heights, was the one who
told Nellie the news of the people there, as Nellie described it
Zila is a selfish, low-key woman who hasn't helped Cathy in
spite of everything, so Zila is on Cathy's list of enemies.
‫زيال مدبرة المنزل في مرتفعات ويذرينغ هي من كانت تخبر نيلي عن اخبار‬
‫الموجودين هناك وحسب وصف نيلي‬
‫ان زيال هي امرأة انانية محدودة التفكير ولم تقدم المساعدة لكاثي رغم كل شيء لذلك‬

Zila did not like Cathy and felt that Cathy was arrogant and did
not help her either because of her fear of losing her job because
Heathcliff had ordered her not to help Cathy at all.
‫زيال لم تحب كاثي وكانت تشعر ان كاثي متعجرفة ولم تساعدها ايضا بسبب خوفها‬
. ‫من فقدان عملها ألن هيثكلف امرها بعدم مساعدة كاثي ابدا‬
The last meeting between Neely and Zilla was six weeks before
Mr. Lockwood arrived in the Yorkshire countryside.

According to Zilla, the first thing Kathy did after arriving at
Wuthering Heights was to go up to her room and just stay by
Linton's side.

. ‫الصعود لغرفتها والبقاء لجانب لنتون فقط‬
Cathy the next morning after arriving at Wuthering Heights, she
asked Heathcliff to call the doctor because Linton's health was so
bad.
‫كاثي في صباح اليوم التالي من وصولها لمرتفعات ويذرينغ طلبت من هيثكلف‬
. ‫أستدعاء الطبيب الن صحة لنتون سيئة جدا‬
Heathcliff did not bring the doctor to Linton because he really
did not love his son and said, "I do not intend to spend on him
not a single penny" and advised Cathy to take care of Linton or
leave him alone.
‫هيثكلف لم يحضر الطبيب للنتون ألنه فعال ال يحب ابنه وقال " ال انوي ان انفق عليه‬
. ‫وال فلسا واحدا " ونصح كاثي باألعتناء بللنتون او تركه وحيدا‬
Cathy asks Zila for help, but she refuses because she has too
many duties, and although she does not agree with Heathcliff's
decision not to bring a doctor, she does not want to disobey her
master Heathcliff's orders.
‫كاثي طلبت المساعدة من زيال لكنها رفضت ألن لديها الكثير من الواجبات ورغم انها‬
‫لم توافق على قرار هيثكلف في عدم احضار طبيب لكنها ال تريد عصيان اوامر‬
. ‫سيدها هيثكلف‬
During Linton's illness after he and Cathy marry, Cathy suffers a
lot in that period because Heathcliff ordered everyone not to help
her and refused to bring the doctor to Linton So Kathy would get
angry and cry a lot and never feel comfortable as he was always
a pale face and seemed to be lacking in sleep.
 ‫اثناء مرض لنتون بعد زواجه هو وكاثي ‪ ،‬كاثي تعاني الكثير في تلك الفترة ألن‬
‫هيثكلف امر الجميع بعدم مساعدتها ورفض احضار الطبيب للنتون لذلك كانت كاثي‬
‫تغصب وتبكي كثيرا وال تشعر بالراحة ابدا حيث كان دائما شاحبة الوجه يبدو عليها‬
‫قلة النوم ‪.‬‬
‫‪Cathy on the night of Linton's death went to Zila's room and told‬‬
‫‪her that Linton was going to die today so she had to Mr.‬‬
‫‪Heathcliff, but Zila didn't do it because she thought Linton‬‬
‫‪would get better and she didn't need to worry Heathcliff.‬‬
‫كاثي في ليلة موت لنتون ذهبت لغرفة زيال واخبرتها ان لنتون سيموت اليوم لذلك‬
‫عليها السيد هيثكلف لكن زيال لم تفعل ذلك ألنها تعتقد ان لنتون سيتحسن وال داعي‬
‫ألقالق هيثكلف ‪.‬‬
‫‪A bell rang in Linton's room, and the sound indicated that‬‬
‫‪something was going on, so Heathcliff asked Zilla to go find out‬‬
‫‪the reason, and she told him that Linton was going to die.‬‬
‫رن جرس كان موضوع في غرفة لنتون وكان الصوت يدل على حدوث شيء لذلك‬
‫طلب هيثكلف من زيال الذهاب لمعرفة السبب فتخبره ان لنتون سيموت ‪.‬‬
‫‪Heathcliff is indifferent to the death of his son Linton and‬‬
‫‪accepts his death without any sympathy.‬‬
‫هيثكلف ال يبالي لوفاة ابنه لنتون ويتقبل موته دون اي عطف ‪.‬‬
‫‪When Lenton died, Cathy wished to die because everyone left‬‬
‫‪her alone in fighting Lenton's death, especially Heathcliff, who‬‬
‫‪might have really been the reason for that. We don't know what‬‬
‫‪would have happened to Lenton if the doctor had come to see‬‬
‫‪him.‬‬
‫عند وفاة لنتون كانت كاثي تتمنى الموت ألن الجميع تركوها وحيدة في محاربة موت‬
‫لنتون وبالذات هيثكلف الذي ربما كان فعال هو السبب في ذلك فنحن ال نعلم ماذا كان‬

Harriton was worried when Linton died, but Heathcliff orders
him to go back to his room and orders Joseph to move Linton's
body to his room, Heathcliff's room.
‫هاريتون كان قلق عندما مات لنتون لكن هيثكلف يأمره بالعودة لغرفته وامر يوسف‬
.‫بنقل جثة لنتون لغرفته غرفة هيثكلف‬
After Lynton's death, Cathy remained ill for two weeks and
refused to go out, so Heathcliff recommended Zila take care of
her, but Zila's attempts to get close to Cathy failed.
‫بعد وفاة لنتون كاثي بقيت مدة اسبوعين مريضة وترفض الخروج لذلك فأن هيثكلف‬
. ‫اوصي زيال باالعتناء بها لكن محاوالت زيال تفشل في التقرب من كاثي‬
Two weeks later, Cathy came out of her room because of the
cold, and after learning that Heathcliff had gone to Thrushcross
Crane, she refused the food offered to her by Zilla, while Hariton
asserted that she was hungry, but she refused again angrily.
‫بعد اسبوعين خرجت كاثي من غرفتها بسبب البرد وبعد ان علمت ان هيثكلف ذهب‬
‫ رفضت الطعام الذي قدمته لها زيال بينما أكد هاريتون انها‬، ‫لثروشكروس كرانج‬
. ‫جائعة لكنها تكرر رفضها وبغضب‬
Cathy tries to amuse herself with some of the existing books, but
she cannot access them, so Hariton offers her help and she does
not refuse his help, but she refuses to integrate with him.
‫تحاول كاثي تسلية نفسها ببعض الكتب الموجودة لكنها لم تتمكن من الوصول اليها‬
‫لذلك فأن هاريتون يقدم لها المساعدة ولم ترفض مساعدته لكنها رفضت االندماج معه‬
Hariton seems to be interested in Cathy because of his looks at
her, but when he touches her hair, she is so angry that she hates
everyone in Wuthering Heights, especially since none of them
helped her while she was taking care of Linton.
 ‫يبدو ان هاريتون ُمهتم بكاثي بسبب نظراته اليها ولكنه عندما لمس شعرها غضبت‬
‫عليه بشدة ألنها كانت تكره جميع الموجودين في مرتفعات ويذرينغ السيما ان ال احد‬
.‫منهم قدم لها المساعدة بينما كانت تعتني بلنتون‬
Hariton wishes Cathy would read to them what she reads in
books, but she refuses, so he gets upset and tells her that she can
go to hell if she doesn't want to sleep with them, so Zilla treats
her the same harshly, and it continues like this.
‫هاريتون يتمنى لو ان كاثي تقرأ لهم مما تقرأه في الكتب لكنها ترفض بشدة فينزعج‬
‫ويخبرها ان تستطيع الذهاب للجحيم ان لم ترغب في الطلوس معهم لذلك كانت زيال‬

Nellie, after learning that Cathy is suffering in Wuthering
Heights, decides to leave work at Thrushcross Crane and live in
a cottage to live in Cathy.
‫نيلي بعد ان علمت ان كاثي تعاني في مرتفعات ويذرينغ قررت ترك العمل في‬
. ‫ثروشكروس كرانج واألقامة بكوخ صغير للعيش في كاثي‬
Mr. Lockwood, having learned so much of the story, decides to
leave Thrushcross Krang and go to London for 6 months,
deciding never to stay here.

Summary and the most important events of Chapter 30:-

The most important event in this chapter is Cathy's forced move
to Wuthering Heights and the death of her husband, Lenton, the
son of Mr. Heathcliff. Heathcliff's refusal to bring a doctor to
Lenton prevents everyone from helping Cathy take care of
Lenton, causing Cathy to suffer and Lenton's death.
Also in this chapter we learn about the nature of the character of
the housekeeper Zila, as described by Nellie, Zila is a selfish,
limited-minded woman who is also cruel because she never
helped Cathy out of fear for her work because Heathcliff
prevented her from doing so.

Cathy is sick for two weeks after the death of Linton and suffers
greatly, which increases her hatred of everyone in Wuthering
Heights, so Nellie decides to quit her job and live in a small
cabin with Cathy.

Lockwood, after hearing the story, cannot afford to stay in
Thrushcross Crane, so he decides to leave the place and go to
live 6 months in London.

Wuthering Heights | Chapter 31 analysis.
Mr. Lockwood goes to Wuthering Heights to inform Heathcliff
about his travel to London with a letter from Neely Dean to
Cathy. Heathcliff was not there. Lockwood decides to wait for
Heathcliff while Hariton escorts him and stays with him to keep
a close eye on him.

Cathy was preparing some vegetables for lunch and did not
welcome Lockwood's presence because her suffering is greater
than welcoming strangers, she was very sad and according to
Lockwood's opinion that Cathy is very beautiful, but not as
lovable as Nellie describes her, despite her beauty, but she is not
an angel.

That is, Lockwood secretly gave Cathy the message so that
Hariton would not feel them, but her surprise exposed the matter.

Hariton takes the letter from Cathy and prefers to see Heathcliff
first, but when he sees her crying, he immediately returns the
letter to her
It seems that Hariton sympathizes with Cathy and does not
intend any evil for her, but her hatred for him keeps him away
from her.
‫هريتون يأخذ الرسالة من كاثي ويفضل ان يراها هيثكلف اوال لكن عندما يراها تبكي‬

Lockwood tells Cathy that Nellie has told him a lot about her, so
Cathy tells him that she wishes she would reply to her letter, but
she doesn't have any writing equipment.
‫لوكوود يخبر كاثي ان نيلي حدثته عنها كثيرا فتخبره كاثي انها تتمنى لو ترد على‬
. ‫رسالتها لكنها ال تملك ادوات كتابة‬
Lockwood tells Cathy that during his illness he was reading
books in Thrushcross Crane, so she tells him that she loves to
read, but Heathcliff burns all the books because he didn't need
them.
‫لوكوود يخبر كاثي ان خالل مرضه كان يقرأ الكتب الموجودة في ثروشكروس كرانج‬

Cathy finds some books in Harrton's room and wants to use
them, but Hariton quickly takes them and describes his behavior
at the time as a collector of agate and silver spoons and stealing
books even though he does not know how to read.
‫كاثي تجد بعض الكتب في غرفة هريتون وتود استخدامها لكن هاريتون يأخذها‬
‫بسرعة وتصف تصرفه وقتها كمن يجمع العقيق ومالعق الفضة و يسرق الكتب رغم‬

Harriton is offended when Cathy says he took the books from
her because he doesn't know how to read and tries to return the
insult, but Lockwood tries to calm the situation by praising
Hariton and that he will become one of the best men of
knowledge.
‫هاريتون يشعر باألهانة عندما تقول كاثي انه اخذ الكتب منها النه ال يعرف القراءة‬
‫فيحاول رد االهانة لكن لوكوود يحاول تهدئة الموقف بالثناء على هاريتون وانه‬

Hariton gives all his books to Cathy, but she refuses and says she
hates his books as much as he hates him. Hariton feels bad and
leaves the place.
‫هريتون يعطي كل كتبه لكاثي لكنها ترفض وتقول انها تكره كتبه كما تكرهه هو‬
. ‫فيشعر هاريتون بالسوء ويغادر المكان‬
Heathcliff is surprised by Hariton's frown and says he looks a lot
like his father Hindley, so he doesn't like seeing him.

Heathcliff is worried and upset about visiting Lockwood again,
and when he learns that Lockwood intends to leave, he invites
him to stay for lunch because he is a guest and should be
welcomed.

Heathcliff orders Cathy to prepare lunch, but she must have
lunch in the kitchen with Joseph and not go out until summer is
gone, calling Mr. Lockwood a stranger.

Lockwood finds Cathy's life in Wuthering Heights an unbearable

Cathy tells Lockwood how sad she is that she has no writing

Hariton is embarrassed he returns the books to Cathy but she

In this chapter, we notie that Hariton sympathizes a lot with
Cathy and may feel love for her, but is met with hate and anger
at Cathy.

Lockwood leaves after lunch and wishes he could rescue Cathy

Wuthering Heights | Chapter 32 analysis.

In 1803 in September Loocod visiting his friend in the north is
held nearby near the city of Ghamton, Lucwood is having a
desire to visit the Crange ThreeScrus where he is still a tenant
home.
‫ في شهر سبتمبر لووكود يزور صديق له في الشمال يقيم في مكان‬1803 ‫في عام‬
‫قريب من مدينة غمرتون فيشعر لوكوود برغبة في زيارة ثروشكروس كرانج حيث‬

Lucwood is heading for Cheroscross and enjoys the beautiful
views upon arrival after 3 hours after the road and when arriving
at home finds a young age at the age of 19 giving clothes and
with an old woman smoking.

Lockwood learns from the woman that she is the new
housekeeper and that Nelly Dean has moved to Wuthering
Heights. The woman says they did not expect him to come back
because he must now be in London as planned.

Lockwood asks the woman to prepare a room for him to stay in
for the night and then heads to Wuthering Heights to settle his
rent with Heathcliff.
‫لوكوود يطلب من المرأة تجهيز غرفة له ليقيم فيها هذه الليلة ويتجه بعد ذلك لمرتفعات‬
. ‫ويذرينغ ليصفي حسابه في األيجار مع هيثكلف‬
When Lockwood arrives, he finds that the inner door is open
unlike his previous visits, which indicates positive changes have
occurred in his absence.

He enters the house and hears conversational sounds between a
young girl and a man talking about reading a passage in a book
and the girl seems to be teaching him to read. Lockwood saw
them from a little distance away. The man was elegant with
brown hair, and the girl was white and blonde, and their
happiness seemed clear to them.
‫يدخل المنزل ويسمع اصوات حديث بين فتاة شابة ورجل يتحدثان حول قراءة مقطع‬

The young woman was Cathy and the man was Hariton
Earnshaw, but Lockwood did not see them well and did not
recognize them.
‫الشابة كانت كاثي والرجل هو هاريتون ايرنشو لكن لوكوود لم يراهما جيدا فلم‬

Lockwood walks into the kitchen and sees Nellie singing and she
is surprised to see him, welcomes him and offers him wine, then
tells her that his visit is speeding up because he wants to settle
his financial account with Heathcliff.
‫يتقدم لوكوود للمطبخ فيرى نيلي وهي تغني وتتفاجأ برؤيته وترحب به وتقدم له النبيذ‬

Nellie tells Lockwood that her master is out and won't come
back soon and that he can settle his account with her or with
Cathy, but Cathy is not used to this responsibility until now.

Lockwood didn't understand what Nellie said until she told him
that Heathcliff had died three months earlier. Heathcliff
summoned Nellie to live in Wuthering Heights, but did not tell
her why. Two weeks after Lockwood had gone, he summoned
her and told her to live with Cathy in a small room in the house
because he did not want to see Cathy.

Cathy finds in Hariton's illness an opportunity to get close to
him, but he refuses, thinking that she hates him, so she tries to
convince him that she does not hate him, but he insists on
staying away from her.

Kathy to get close to Hariton prepares a gift for him, wrapping a
book, and sends it to him with Nellie and tells her that accepting
the gift will teach him to read well, and if he refuses, she will
never speak to him again.
‫كاثي للتقرب من هاريتون تقوم بتجهيز هدية له تغلف كتاب وترسله له مع نيلي‬

Hariton accepts Kathy's gift and she tries to win his friendship
with her fun, so Kathy and Harton become friends and over time
they become in love.

and is eagerly waiting for their marriage.

In September 1803, Lockwood visits a friend of his in the north
of England and is close to Gammarton, and decides to go to
Thrushcross Crang to settle his financial account with Heathcliff.

Upon arrival, Lockwood learns of a strange woman in
Thrushcross Crang Nellie Dean has moved to Wuthering Heights
and decides to go there to see Heathcliff and settle his account
with him.

When Lockwood arrives at Wuthering Heights, he finds that
things have changed, as he sees a girl and a young man having
sweet conversations, then they go out together without knowing
who they are, then he meets Nellie and tells him that Heathcliff
has died 3 months ago.
