LEISURE/SPARE TIME AND INTERESTS

It’s an interesting topic because is something that is getting more and more important in our life.

To start with, I would like to say that as we are humans we naturally need to enjoy leisure time to
balance the stress of work and everyday life. In other words, leisure helps us recover the stress and
relax from our daily routine. However, there is little time for people to entertain themselves, like at
weekends or summer moments. Therefore, selecting what to do in one´s free time is fairly important.
But the most important thing is that the activities we choose have to be enjoyable and also, they
have to help us to relax and to recharge our batteries.

Nowadays, there are different ways to enjoy free time and depend on your interests and the person
you are, you will choose some activities or others. I mean, there are factors in which you can take it
into account like age, gender, personality and so.

On the one hand, there are people who prefer doing physical activities like doing sports like running,
spinning, dancing or taking a walk are activities which are beneficial for our body but also for our
brain. In fact, it’s a way to release stress, so after that, you feel more relaxed. On the other hand,
reading, listening to music, going out with friends or just having time to ourselves are other different
ways to enjoy the spare time, but probably this kind of activities prefer people who want being
relaxed. Apart from that, when we have more time such an in summer, travelling is a good option to
disconnect from our daily life. It’s a way of meeting new people, know about other cultures or just
enjoying new places where you have never been before.

From my point of view, I like doing sports or take a walk because is a way to disconnect a little bit
your mind and because you can feel how your stress is getting out. However, I also like being relaxed
at home reading a book or listening to music.

To sum up, I would like to say that it doesn´t matter what kind of activity you practise but it has to be
something which helps us escape from the stressful life or from the pressure of life.
