Noun – (isim)
Nouns are one of the four major word classes, along with verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
Nouns are the largest word class.

Types of nouns:
A noun refers to a person, animal or thing. Some examples are:
Nouns FOR people
boy woman student Maria

Nouns FOR animals and things

book tree Manchester name

Verb – (fiil/yüklem)
Verbs are one of the four major word classes, along with nouns, adjectives and
adverbs. A verb refers to an action, event or state.

Verbs show us AN ACTION, A FORMATION, A MOVEMENT.

These are verbs:

actions events states

go set be

sing happen have

to go / to come / to eat / to drink / to sleep / to cook / to write / to read /
to watch / to play / to sing / to look / to see / to smell ..... etc....

2) Verbs used with (to be)(am, is, are, was, were,


been)
– used with adjectives
You must make the sentence with verb to be,

Ex. She is happy √ She happy X X X X X X

to be happy I am happy.
to be angry He is very angry.
to be sad I am sad today.
to be thirsty She is thirsty. Can you give a glass of water please?
to be excited He is very excited.
to be ready They are ready.
to be interested in I am interested in this job.
To be bored She was really bored.
To be shocked I was shocked....
To be surprised When I saw her, I was surprised.

Adjectives describe a NOUN.

tells us HOW is the NOUN


Ex. Big, small, long, happy, beautiful, lovely, angry, red, new, old, sad, large,
fat, thin, handsome, exciting, extraordinary, fantastic etc...

Big house, small village, long hair, happy girl, beautiful girl, lovely song, angry
man, red car, new car, old car, sad boy, large box, fat person, thin woman,
handsome man, exciting film, extraordinary book, fantastic view

Adverbs describe a VERB.

tells us HOW is the VERB


As a general rule to change an adjective to an adverb; we add ‘ly’ and
these are the adverbs we will focus on today.

Adjective Adverb
Quick She speaks quickly
Angry He shouts angrily
Happy The boy played happily with his new toys

Ex. She is a slow girl. He is an angry man.


She speaks slowly. He shouts angrily.
