COURSE DESCRRIPTION:
Art Appreciation is a three-unit course which aims to develop the students’ ability to appreciate, analyze, and critic works of art. Through interdisciplinary and
multimodal approaches, it equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical and social relevance of the arts in order to hone students’
ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. Further, it develops students’ competency in researching and curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting,
and evaluating art products. It covers an introduction to art appreciation, Western art history and culture and the arts.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Analyze and appraise works of art based on aesthetic value, historical context, tradition, and social relevance
2. Mount an art exhibit (concept development, production and post production, marketing, documentation, critiquing)
3. Create their own works of art and curate their own production of exhibit
4. Utilize art for self-expression and for promoting advocacies

It is a full responsibility of the students to prepare and participate in class. They are expected to take all examinations on the date scheduled, work on their
assignment, and submit requirements on time.
ACADEMIC HONESTY:
All students are expected to be academically honest. Any student found guilty in committing any form of academic dishonesty will be given appropriate
sanction.
POLICY ON ABSENCES:
It is every body’s responsibility to attend classes regularly. In case a student cannot attend the class, excuse letter or waiver containing valid reason must
be presented upon reporting back to class. The number of absences depends on number of meetings per week. A grade of FDA (failure due to absences) will be
given to a student who incurred 20% of the total number of hours in a semester.
