On June 25, 2005 A.D. the Al Mahdi Shrine accompanied Madame` Richelle D. York to
Savannah State University to meet the Honorable Louis Farrakhan of the world renowned
Nation of Islam, as apart of the Savannah Communities Celebration for the Birthday of
Imperial Grand Potentate, Noble: Rev. Dr. Malachi Z. York 33º/720º.
Minister Farrakhan was scheduled to address the Georgia Association of Black Elected
Officials (GABEO) as a special invited guest of State Representative Tyrone Brooks and
Joseph Lowery of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC).
Minister Farrakhan eloquently spoke of
the responsibility that GABEO has for the
improvement of the quality of life for
African Americans in the State of Georgia.
His words were a very stern, awakening to
these elected leaders to act on behalf of
their constituents for the education, social
issues, as well as economic growth in the
urban communities. Minister Farrakhan

condition. He also spoke of the past
success of the Million Man March and the
continued vision of seeing a “Million
More” attend the upcoming event. The
Honorable Minister spoke from his heart
for over 2 hours, reaching the hearts and
minds of all those who attended the event.

Potentate, Noble: Rev. Dr. Malachi Z.

to the Minister the diligent efforts of
Liberian diplomats and also the status of
the Imperial Grand Potentate, Noble: Rev.
Dr. Malachi Z. York 33º/720º’s appeal in
the judicial system. The Honorable
Minister stated that he wanted to help.
He also stated that he would like the
opportunity to visit with Imperial Grand
Potentate, Noble: Rev. Dr. Malachi Z.
York 33º/720º. The Nobles also told The

attendance at the Luncheon. He asked the
Al Mahdi Shrine to please make it possible for him to meet her before he departed the
facility.
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan then proceeded into the ballroom to extend to
the King Family his appreciation for the work and legacy that Dr. Martin Luther King
bestowed upon all people and the sacrifices that his family endured so we as a people
could enjoy the civil rights that he fought for, lived for, and eventually died for. His
words were encouraging and equally stern to those in attendance to do more to support
the legacy that Dr. Martin Luther King left behind at the Martin Luther King Center. He
stated that we as a people should make sure the King Center stays open and not let it be
such a heavy burden on the children that have already suffered so much to keep their
father’s “Dream” alive.
As the Honorable Minster Louis Farrakhan left the stage, he embraced members of the
King family with words of encouragement. As he proceeded to leave the building, the
Nobles of the Al Mahdi Shrine then presented to him Madame `Richelle D. York.
His words were, “It is an honor to meet you” he said. “May Allah Bless your father and
may Allah Bless You, this battle is temporary and Allah tests his chosen.” Madame` York
responded, “The honor is all mine.” She then proceeded to deliver a message to the
Honorable Minster directly from the Imperial Grand Potentate, Noble: Rev. Dr. Malachi
Z. York 33º/720º. Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan offered his support and
adamantly stated that he wanted to DO something to help. Madame` Richelle D. York
then placed in his hand an envelope of the most up-to-date information surrounding the
case and the Liberian Government’s position on the repatriation of Liberia’s Consul

General, Nobel: Rev. Dr. Malachi Z. York. At the conclusion of the meeting, Madame`
York agreed to deliver to the Honorable Minister as much information possible about the
case and the circumstances surrounding Dr. York’s incarceration. Minister Farrakhan
stated, “I want to know the truth. I know that your father is being persecuted for his
ability to organize the masses of black people.” He also stated that they would be coming
after him next.
