Competition:

For my fmp I have decided to enter my production into a competition. I spent a long time looking into various
different ones and finally decided on entering in the Raindance Uk and international film festival 2022. I
thought this competition had everything I was looking for such as the guidelines being they will accept a
variety of different films this including, music videos, documentary’s, and short/long feature films. Also, if you
are to win it gets you in touch with many different mangers and agency’s which would boost the views of your
project and get you contacts. I feel this will be a very exciting thing to participate in as I would to learn more
about the industry.
My Final idea:

I came up with 3 possible ideas for my final major project, in the end I have chosen to go with my very first one
this being a documentary, I believe I now have the knowledge and have learnt the techniques I can in
cooperate into my documentary. My documentary is going to be about my great gran and how she lives. I’m
making this to show how it effects our family life and show the truth in what people may be dealing with
behind closed doors. I also want to show raw footage of the carers who come in and look after my gran. I
wanted to take a much more personal and emotional approach in this unit as I feel I can really produce
something quite special and really connect with the audience.

I will do this with multiple different camera

angles shot in the same room around my
gran with b-roll from sunsets etc etc… over
the top with voice over’s and have
interviews and photos

I am really pushing myself outside of my

comfort zone to produce this documentary
as it’s a subject me and my family have an incredible hard time talking about let alone filming. I’m hoping to
show the realism of our life and show how lonely it can be. The documentary is also to raise awareness as I feel
not many people understand how people can live especially the elderly, with this being a topic so close to my
heart I really want to put my all into the making of it.

Rules and Regulations:

I can confirm that this documentary will all be my own work and I have personally filmed it,

It will be between 10-25 minutes long,

Legal and ethical issues:

No discrimination against religion, race, disability or sex,

To ensure I get consent from the people I want in my documentary,

To get forms such as…

- Material release forms, (for photos/documents)

- Location release forms,

My Target Audience:

For my target audience want to aim it towards the people who may struggle with family problems and issues
to show they are not alone and there is help out there. I also would like to aim it at people who have a
‘normal’ family life to show them how much others struggle and teach them about this subject. I’m hoping by
gong down this route it’ll increase viewers and word of mouth will get around that will encourage more people
to watch my documentary.
