CHAPTER III

METHODS AND PROCEDURE

In this chapter the purpose of researcher is to indicate the methodology and

procedures that being used in the study. The researchers described the technique and

instrument used to evaluate the collected data. This section also includes the data analysis

techniques and the treatment of data.

The researchers put in a lot of time, effort, and collaboration to create an eco-friendly

and cost-efficient fog machine. The researchers employed data mining to quickly locate a

variety of resources, including information obtained from journals, books, papers, websites,

studies, and videos on the internet.

Research Design and Method

The researchers employed a combination of descriptive research and developmental

design. Descriptive research is a research approach that is concerned with current occurrences

in terms of circumstances, correct analyses, processes, linkages, or trend identification.

Descriptive research aims to gather quantifiable data from a population sample in order to

conduct statistical analysis. The descriptive research approach is used to correctly

characterize a population or circumstance.

Descriptive research goal is to correctly and thoroughly characterize a population,

situation, or phenomena. It can answer the questions what, where, when, and how, but not

why. To explore one or more variables, a descriptive research design might employ a wide

range of research methodologies. The researchers used this technique in the study because

they wanted to discover how people were currently using in fog machine.

The researcher used the Descriptive-Developmental method. Gillaco (2014), discussed

that descriptive method seeks the real facts in relation to a current situation. Furthermore, this

method works primarily on the description, comparison, analysis and interpretation of data that

exists. Meanwhile, Beb (n.d.) he says that the developmental method refers to a body of

research literature that is directly related to instructional development, implying that an output

will be generated as a result of this study.

The researcher used developmental for the improvement of the fog machine. The

design, development, and effectiveness of fog machines Developmental research has been

defined as the systematic study of creating, producing, and assessing instructional programs,

procedures, and products that must fulfill internal consistency and effectiveness requirements.

It can also provide and improve the effect using the previous research that has been used in

practicing and collecting experience for a better result for the researcher.

The research study that we are conducting helps us in our research design to perform

descriptive-developmental design because it is a systematic study of putting into design,

developing, and careful evaluation of instructional programs, processes, and products that

must meet the standard. The combination of these two methods aids us in performing and

evolving using the basis of journals, articles, books, related studies, literature, and other

sources of material that talk about the eco-friendly and cost-efficient fog machine. This will

aid us in practicing our research study.

Population and Location of the Study

The locale of the study was in Calasiao, Pangasinan. The respondent of the study

where the people whose place has a pest and insects that needed to eliminate. They will also

serve as the evaluator of the proposed eco-friendly and cost-efficient fog machine.

Gathering the data to determine the number of respondents is convenience sampling

method. The research data is gathered from an easily accessible pool of respondents. It is the

most often used sample technique since it is way faster, simple, and inexpensive. Members

are often cooperative and willing to participate in the study. This method is being used

because it is appropriate due to the fact that the researcher has limited access to face-to-face,

expensive fare bills, and a risk to our health while traveling because we are still experiencing

the COVID-19 pandemic, it is quite difficult for researchers to travel out and conduct surveys

in various locations in Calasiao, Pangasinan, so only those who are within reach are regarded

as respondents.

Instrumentation/ Source of Data

The researcher used the survey questionnaire to serve as the major source of

information during the data collection process for the proposed system. the researchers asked

the responders certain questions that may aid in the project's design and development.

Interview helps us to collect and gathering data. Through this process, the researcher

can ask the respondents some questions that are related to the topic, as they can respond to

the question. Interviews can be conducted face-to-face or over the telephone. The internet is

also emerging as a tool for interviewing. It contains the list of questions and answer options

that the researcher will read to respondents.

Questionnaires are popular research methods because they provide a quick, fast, and

low-cost way to collect huge quantities of data from big sample sizes. These methods are

very useful for determining a subject's preferences, intents, attitudes, and views. Researchers

can acquire both qualitative and quantitative data by using open and closed research

questions, resulting in more thorough results. Questionnaires enable researchers to

strategically manage their target audience, questions and format while gathering large data

quantities on any subject.

The researchers also used the internet to obtain further information. The internet was

used as a secondary source of information by the researchers in order to complete the

suggested system with more knowledge and technology. It aids us in developing and

constructing eco-friendly and cost-efficient fog machine that will helpful for eliminating pest

and insects.

Data Analysis/ Treatment of Data

The researchers applied statistical techniques to the data collected in order to analyze

and acquire which used to analyze the present methods used by the respondents and the

ranking method used to analyze the problem encountered in using the present method.

The researchers used the percentage formula to be able to perform data analysis. To

compute for the percentage, the following formula was used:

The resulting data was then ranked where the highest percentage recipients is

automatically ranked highest, followed by the second highest, and then the third. In case of a

tie or if the resulting rank is equal, the researcher will use the following formula:

Ethical Consideration

The following procedures were implemented to resolve the study’s ethical concerns.

There was no harm done to the research participants in any way. Respect for the respondents'

dignity was paramount, and the study was conducted in complete confidentiality. The safety

of research was protected, as was the identity of the participants. It was assured that persons

and organizations engaged in the research were protected. Affiliation in any form, financial

sources, and any potential conflicts of interest have to be stated. Any communication on the

research was done with honesty and transparency. Any sort of deceptive information, as well

as the misrepresentation of original sources It was avoided that data findings be skewed. To

avoid plagiarism, correct citation of materials, particularly those obtained from the internet, is

also taken into account.
