Semi – Detailed Lesson Plan in English 6

I. OBJECTIVES
Within the allotted time, pupils are expected to:
a. Identify adjectives in the sentence;
b. Use the positive, comparative and superlative degrees of regular adjectives
correctly; and
c. Participate to the activities and discussion attentively.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


TOPIC: DEGREES OF COMPARISON OF ADJECTIVES (EN6G-IIb-6.6)
REFERENCE: ENGLISH VI for You and Me (146)
MATERIALS: flash cards, cartolina, printed materials and pictures (Using ICT materials)
VALUES INTEGRATION: Caring our body through exercise/stretching towards physically and
mentally fit.

III. PROCEDURE

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES

A.1 –Setting of Standard

A.2 –Drill
*The teacher will lead an exercise or stretching to condition the body and mind.
The teacher will say: Class always have an exercise or even stretching like what
we did to make our body strong, healthy and body well-conditioned. (Integration: MAPEH-
Physical Education)

A.3 -Review
*The teacher will flash a card with sentence. Let the pupils read the sentence and identify the
adjective in the sentence. (LITERACY)
1. Julian is a very bright boy.
2. The flowers are sweet and beautiful.
3. The lovable son hugged his parents.
A.4 –Motivation
*The teacher will ask a question:
1. How many are you in the family? (Integration: Mathematics/ NUMERACY)
2. Who among you is the most industrious?
3. Who is the most helpful?
4. Who among you is the funniest in your family?

B. LESSON PROPER

*The teacher will divide the pupils into four (4) groups.
*The teacher will disseminate the materials for the activity.

*After the given time doing their specific activity the leaders will present their outcome and
they will be rated using the rubrics attached at the back page.
*The teacher will give feedback to their outcome.

B.3 – Abstraction

*Regular adjectives follows pattern. It has rules to


follow.
*When we speak about only one person or thing, we
use the positive degree.
*When we compare two person or things with each
other, we use comparative degree. There are two ways
you can change the word to the comparative degree:
1. We add “er” to the end of the word and
2. We add “more” to the front of the word
* When we compare two or more persons or things
with one other, we use superlative degree. There are
two ways you can change the word to the superlative
degree:
1. We add “est” to the end of the word and
2. We add “most” to the front of the word
*If the word has only one syllable we only add “er” or
“est” to form comparative or superlative degree.
*If the word has two syllables we add “more” or “most”
to the front of the word to create a comparative and
superlative degree.

B.4 – Application
*Board work: The teacher let the pupils underline the adjectives in the sentence and identify
its degree of comparison.
Direction: Read the sentence and identify the adjective and its degree of comparison.
Example: He is a tall student.
Answer: TALL – Positive degree
1. This is the smallest house in this street.
2. Billion is the highest digit of an amount of money. (Integration: Mathematics)
3. He is more intelligent than this boy.
4. Among the countries in the world Russia is the biggest. (Integration: ArPAn.)
5. The diamond ring is quite expensive.
Answer:
1. Smallest – Superlative degree
2. Highest - Superlative degree
3. More Intelligent – Comparative Degree
4. Biggest – Superlative degree
5. Expensive – Positive degree

IV. EVALUATION(Formative Assessment)


Direction: Read and underline in the parenthesis the correct degree of comparison of adjective to
complete the sentence.
