MODULE 2:

In a fast-changing world, what is useful today may not be of value tomorrow. Same way with
the educational process, gone were the days where students are just sitting inside the classroom waiting
to be supplemented with knowledge. What they learned today may not be applicable on the next day so
as teachers we need to deliver learning that is applicable for all time – the lifelong learning. To get this,
teachers must be updated with skills - ICT literate and are abreast with the current trend. Must be
facilitators instead of learning instead of being the only fountain of knowledge in the classroom.

As the society evolves, so does the role of teacher in the teaching-learning process. Teachers
must be the one to harness students’ abilities and skills in facing the overwhelming change that happens
in the society.

 Arthur Ward’s Category of Teacher:

 Mediocre- the teacher who tells
 Good- the teacher who explains
 Superior- the teacher who demonstrates
 Great- a teacher who inspire students.

As teachers, we are multi-faceted. At times I am a mediocre teacher who tells students what is
good and what is not. I can also say I am a good teacher who explains students concepts they need to
learn in life. Situation also calls for us to be superior teacher who demonstrates how things are done so
students can emulate or can have basis how to do things. I am not certain if I am a great teacher, for I
know its not me who can attest to that; the students are. One thing I am certain is this, I do things with
aspirations to inspire students to be a better version of themselves. Bottomline is, every teacher wants
to be great as they aim to inspire every student.

Giving students not the inch deep; mile wide kind of learning
