ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

Organizational Behaviour is the study of human behaviour in the workplace, the interaction between
people and the organization, and the organization itself. The system approach is one that integrates all
the variables, affecting organizational functioning. The systems approach has been developed by the
behavioural scientists to analyse human behaviour in view of his/her socio-psychological framework.

SCOPE OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR

The three internal organizational elements viz., people, technology and structure and the fourth
element, i.e., external social systems.

1. People:

The people constitute the internal social system of the organization. They consist of individuals and
groups. Groups may be large or small, formal or informal, official or unofficial. They are dynamic.
They form, change and disband. Human organization changes every day. Today, it is not the same as
it was yesterday. It may change further in the coming days. People are living, thinking and feeling
being who created the organization and try to achieve the objectives and goals. Thus, organizations
exist to serve the people and not the people exist to serve the organization. Organizations are the
associations of individuals. Individuals differ in many respects. The study of individuals, therefore,
includes aspects such as personality, perception, attitudes, values, job satisfaction, learning and
motivation. According to you, explain to us how well does the Acting Principal of Kimbilio schools
address these aspects?

2. Structure

Structure defines the sole relationship of people in an organization. Different people in an

organization are given different roles and they have certain relationship with others. It leads to
division of labour so that people can perform their duties or work to accomplish the organizational
goal. Thus, everybody cannot be an accountant or a clerk. Work is complex and different duties are
to be performed by different people. Some may be accountant; others may be managers, clerks,
peons or workers. All are so related to each other to accomplish the goal in a co-ordinated manner.
Thus, structure relates to power and duties. One has the authority and others have a duty to obey
him. As a member of staff of Kimbilio schools, react to us how the Headship of Kimbilio schools
distributes power and duties?
3. Technology

Technology imparts the physical and economic conditions within which people work. With their bare
hands people can do nothing so they are given assistance of buildings, machines, tools, processes
and resources. The nature of technology depends very much on the nature of the organization and
influences the work or working conditions. Thus, technology brings effectiveness and at the same
restricts people in various ways. Kindly, give us your perspective on technology nature under the
leadership of the acting principal and does it meet the needs of the schools to propel it upwards?

4. Social System

Social system provides external environment which the organization operates. A single organization
cannot exist also. It is a part of the whole. One organization cannot give everything and therefore,
there are many other organizations. All these organizations influence each other. It influences the
attitudes of people, their working conditions and above all provides competition for resources and
power. According to you, how well has Kimbilio schools related to other social systems that it
operates interdependently with them?

5. Ethics:

Today’s manager needs to create an ethically healthy climate for his employees, where they can work
productively and confront a minimal level of uncertainty regarding what constitutes right and wrong
behavior. Explain to this committee how well or bad the acting principal has addressed this?

6. Growing number of youngsters-

These employees are fresh, ambitious, enthusiastic and innovative. These people do not “Live to work
but work to Live” choosing a life that they want to have as opposed to just bringing home a pay check.
Being a member of Kimbilio schools, point to this taskforce the professionalism level on how the acting
principal handles this scenario?

7. Staffing

The staffing function of management controls all recruitment and personnel needs of the organization.
The main purpose of staffing is to hire the right people for the right jobs to achieve the objectives of the
organization. Staffing involves more than just recruitment; staffing also encompasses training and
development, performance appraisals, promotions and transfers. Without the staffing function, the
business would fail because the business would not be properly staffed to meet its goals. According to
your thinking, do you think suitability has accompanied staffing in Kimbilio schools?

8. Coordinating

The coordinating function of leadership controls all the organizing, planning and staffing activities of the
company and ensures all activities function together for the good of the organization. Coordinating
typically takes place in meetings and other planning sessions with the department heads of the schools
to ensure all departments are on the same page in terms of objectives and goals. Coordinating involves
communication, supervision and direction by management. From where you sit, can you react to this
statement putting in to context the Kimbilio Schools?

Controlling

The controlling function of management is useful for ensuring all other functions of the organization are
in place and are operating successfully. Controlling involves establishing performance standards and
monitoring the output of employees to ensure each employee’s performance meets those standards.
The controlling process often leads to the identification of situations and problems that need to be
addressed by creating new performance standards. The level of performance affects the success of all
aspects of the organization. Being a member of this organization, is this statement true or false. Why do
you think so?
